Dinner Ideas

My family has decided to go the route of planning our dinners a week in advance in order to save money on shopping and eating out as well as to chose more healthy items. Now the problem is I don't have that many recipes. I can cook, but we rely on eating out to much. So what I am looking for are some WLS/Family friendly ideas for dinner. I have 2 kids and I am trying to get them eating more healthy than the old stand by grilled cheese or mac and cheese. Any ideas or meals that you could not live without?

Meatloaf, taco salads, fajitas, grilled burgers/chicken outside on the grill, cassaroles using something in place of noodles like a veggie of some kind, meats in the crockpot, homemade pizza using a very thing WW crust, stuffed chicken breasts with cheese/spiniach or feta cheese, shish ka bobs, different salads with a grilled meat on top. Not sure how "kid friendly" these would be to your family, but this is what comes to mind so far!

I'm kinda of a cook that just goes by the seat of my pants on stuff. For meatloaf I buy the leanest kind of beef and then add an egg to moisten it up, then I add (don't laugh) ground up whole grain cereals like kashi or special K protein cereal that i put in my bullet rather than bread crumbs. I chop up green pepper and onion and put it in there and then some low carb ketchup. I add spices to it too, sometimes a package of lipton onion soup mix which make sit really good or just garlic and onion powders, salt and pepper and a little lawrey's seasoned salt. I also make my meatballs much of the same way. I put veggies around my meatloaf and bake it.. i used to do carrots and potatoes now I do celery, peppers and squash/zuchinni. As for the crust on pizza, I haven't actually made one like this (remember im the carb phobe) but I have made a meat crust pizza. A friend of mine got it froma south beach recipe.. if u don't mind a meat crust pizza here is the crust part, top like any other pizza 1 cup crushed fiber 1 cereal (0 sugar) 2 whipped eggs, 2 cups raw extra lean ground beef. Push into a cookie sheet, really thin. Bake 15" then top and bake again with your ingredients. Hope this helps.

www.30daygourmet.com http://organizedhome.com/content-85.html Those are two good sites to get you started with some ideas. I began doing OAMC (once a month cooking) years ago and all the recipes were mostly high in calories/fat but could be easily adapted. You don't have to do the full month of course and can just use the sites for just recipe and menu ideas if you don't actually want to stock your freezer. On the first one i think the free recipes are in the newsletter section but also check out the links. Also check out the grocery store mags, can't remember which one but there are a few that offer monthly menu ideas too. Family Circle, etc.
