Any nutrition ideas are welcome
Hello all !
I am thinking that i am not consuming enough food Our program does not have a calorie guideline they just want us to eat healthy and protein first. So i guess my question is what calories and fats and proteins and carbs do you all try to aim for in a day???? I know now that i am not cosuming enough of something and my weightloss has stopped for nearly 2 months and i just want to see what you guys do your weightloss is at least moving in the right direction.. My nut and surgeon is not really concerned my labs are great all my vitamins and everything is outstanding and that is with out supplements due to high iron levels.. Any help is greatly appreciated....
Hi Anita, well if you daily intake of calories is in the 400's like it was tonight then you my dear are in starvation mode and that is why you haven't let go of any weight in 2 months. You need at least 800 and my doc says for me to get closer to 1000. Protein wise I can tell you what *I* do but please make sure it is ok with your doc/nut. I do 90-95ish grams a day. My doc wants us to get in at least 60 and they said they were ok with me getting 90 a day b/c I do run everyday. As for fats, I *try* to keep it under 30ish but never fails it tends to land in the 40's which I don't like. Carbs well this has been a struggle for me.. I have a carbophobia.. truly. I am working on it. A week ago I was in the ER because I was all backed up with poo.. I was drinking 100 oz of water a day, taking a stool sofener but with this high protein diet and not enough fiber well it did a toll on me.. so I need to get more good carbs and I am doing that and still losing so I am happy about it. I add fiber sure to coffee etc to get more in. I still dont like to go over 60 at best honestly.. i was staying below 40-50 before. Hope this helps.
I have to agree with Melissa. Calories in the 400's is waaay to low for this far out. Our doc never really mentioned calories, just portion amounts times x per day, focusing on eating proteins first. But he recommends minimum of 60 protein but can range up to 85, fat he likes to see at 20-34g a day, and of course minimum of 8-10 glasses of non-caffeinated liquids. A couple of months ago I had been at a huge stall and then started coming here regularly and tracking my intake. I had found that I wasn't getting in near 800 cals...so I upped them and low and behold, my plateau broke. I'm still losing slowly but still losing nonetheless....of course I'm sure that won't last too long now because of the pregnancy. So, yes, I'd definitely up the calories in a healthy way. Oh...and carbs was told around 100 in general, BUT pre surgery I was a carb junkie with insulin resistance, so believe it or not, I try to stay under that.
Anita, my numbers are higher now that I am trying to maintain but when I was still actively losing past 6 months my nut. said to keep in the 7-800 range for calories and still 60-80 prot. The protein is the only steadfast minimum my surgeon stresses and the calories change throughout the program but they don't have any rules on carbs or fats other than to keep them healthy choices and try to keep them low.
Interesting how different doctors and nut's are so different. Glad to hear your labs are still great! Keep up the good work. This reminds me it is time for another vitamin. hahaha
