very depressed

Hello all, sorry i have not been on but job is stressful and I am not doing well. I am in a horrible pattern. I can not break this cycle. I am up 2 and then then down 2 but them back up. I am at 248 and i can not break that number. Went on vacation this summer and my body has never recovered Help what can i do to get off this plateau. I am getting very depressed thanks Kelly

That has been my story ALL summer. I "talked" to myself about what I was doing and not doing and have been on the Dec boards all week as motivation Started using Fitday and joined a exercise class this week. Fitday has really opened my eyes as I am a picker and being accountable to myself (and others) is a good thing for me. I actually dropped 2 pds this week which is a first for me in a while. Hello yes theres my big problem, the evenings and I too pick all night. I need some high protien snack items so I will leave the carbs alone. Yes fitday openned my eyes also but during the day i can not get on there and most times during the week I get home so late anyway I will try harder thanks for responding Kelly

Hi Kelly, I am sorry you are going through a touh time with your weight loss. Maybe you can offer what you are doing now. What do you typically eat in a day and do you exercise? Do you measure and/or count anything? Maybe once we all have this info we can all put our heads together and come up with a plan for you. Please try to do something to lift your sprits a little. Hello thanks for your support, I do exercise but not as hard as before vacation. I was doing really well and was gone on vacation for 3 weeks, Now i am just not as decicated. I do well when at work but am not eating like I should. And when i get home I am starving and I pick all night. Think my trouble is with my carbs. I consume too many carbs. I will begin to watch more and get back to the gym. Just got into slump and was having a big ole pity party Lol sorry for the dumping ( pun intented LOL)of emotions, but appreciate and need someone to tell me to get it back into gear thanks Kelly

So you already know what you need to change. What kind of carbs are you eating? I rarely eat carbs, just not good for us. You are welcome to dump here all you wish and we will be here for you. Write down what you are eating and why? Are you bored, are you really hungry? What can you do instead of picking? Instead of picking can you sit down and write? Maybe do 10 sit ups each time you want to snack. Yes, you do need to get back into gear. You already know that we are getting into the slow period so that means you need to work harder. We all know you can do it and we are all here for you. ~ Terisa

Hi Kelly, Sorry to hear you are having trouble staying motivated. I bet those carbs are the problem...they just make you want more carbs. Even 'good' carbs do that to me but for instance if I eat strawberries it just makes me want more strawberries so that isn't so bad. If I eat more than my half cup of Kashi Go Lean then the wheat in it makes me want cookies and crackers. It makes me wonder if this is the kind of torture that smokers who have quit go through when they are around other smokers? Certain chemicals really do a number on our brains. I don't think it is your fault and you can get out of this slump it will just mean knowing that you have to tough out a week or two to clean your system of the carbs. Once you have gotten clean, so to speak, then you will crave them less and not have as tough a time with that up two down two pattern. Glad you are back here with us! Molly
