Hello everyone, seems I am not doing sooo well these days. My wieght is mostly at a stand still and Tuesday I was down now i am up 2 pounds. I know I am having trouble with carbs. Have any of you had some time like right about now where you are stuck and not show loss? It is making me very down, anyway I just thought I would put it out there, hope you all have a great weekend, talk to you soon kelly

I have not lost a pound for nearly 2 weeks now. I know this is very common for our time frame for surgery, but it is depressing to do so well then stop out of nowhere. I am going to reevaluate what I eat and so on to see if there are changes I can make to kick start it again, even if only a little. I am not where I want to be so it would be so hard to stop losing now.

Kelly, lately I've been bouncing around depending on what time of the month it is but so far I'm still creeping downwards. You can go ahead and be mad at me because I haven't had a true plateau at all with this surgery. With my vbg surgery I did and it ended up derailing me because I didn't have a good support system. You have all of us here now so vent if you need to or hunt around OH here for the plateau buster diet if you want to try that. (try the search bar up above) You'll get past this, those nasty carbs won't win...you can beat them! Molly

Hi Kelly, I know your frustration! I think that stalls around our time after surgery are pretty normal, I have read alot of posts about plateaus etc. and everybody has their own suggestion for getting through them. And that is what we will do - get through them - we just have to keep up the good habits and not be such a slave to the scale - please try not to let the lbs. rule your moods - concentrate on all your wow moments and how much better you are feeling since surgery! Another good idea, is if you have a health center at your hospital, or purchase a scale that deals with the lean body mass.. that's always more heartening for me, then pounds lost. I only lost 3 lbs between my last weigh in on the health center scale, but I gained 2% in lean body mass, so I was really happy. Cause I know the lean body mass is what is going to keep my metabolism working well.

Actually, I've lost 8 lbs so far this month *hides* I just got the okay to add carbs back in to my diet (other than fruit/veggies). What amount of carbs daily are you consuming? I was told at our 7 month and beyond nutrition class, that until we make goal we shouldn't eat more than 100 carbs a day. I'm sure that would be modified if you are exercising a lot, though. I have all the formulas, but what I generally do, is I eat 80-90 carbs a day, and I just make it the diabetic carb counting, where 15g of carb = 1 carb exchange. That makes it easier for me. I get 6 carb exchanges for the day. And some days, I just make it 5 carb exchanges. This is simpler for me, because I'm not having to add ALL my carbs for the day in a running total. I just round. So, if my snack is 14g of carbs, with whatever protein, I add my protein to my running total for the day (only thing other than water I do keep track of by the g and oz), and then round that 14g to 1 serving. So I have 5 exchanges left for the day, or 6, depending on what I'm allowing myself that day. I still measure all my food, and that has helped. Melissa said the month she added carbs back in to her diet, was also a really good weight loss for her. So, let's talk turkey and see if there is anything we can do to help
