How come?
Less grehlin (the hunger hormone), focusing on protein more than ever and ditching the high sugar/white flour foods that create hunger and dumping (the fear of getting sick). Knowing I have went to great lengths having this surgery-rearranging my plumbing (so life altering) that I need to make this work this time. Having the restriction and the ability to push my plate away after 4-6 oz of food and just walk away and not care. There are so many things we have now that we didn't have before tool wise.. I love it, don't you? So nice..
I want to ditto exactly what Melissa said! With my VBG surgery, healthy foods didn't feel good in my pouch and I really wanted to eat bad stuff because not only did it taste better it sat better inside. Now I can honestly say that good foods taste better and they are so much more satisfying to my body.
Of course I still have head hunger issues and still deal with times when I know I just don't 'need' that microwave popcorn but I sure WANT it. So, I just budget the calories and eat it and the 'diet' continues without being derailed by guilt like it would have been preop.

I just remember being hungry all the time pre-op...and snacking alot....on all the wrong things. I was truely addicted to soda, white flour and sugar. Now I like eating better things...but I still like certian carbs(dried fruit, popcorn, rice cakes)
I just like the feeling on not being famished all the time....
