A Family Wow
By now most of us December babies have made a lot of changes to our families' diets that benefit them as well as us, right? While nobody in my family has slimmed down along with me, at least I know that what I prepare them is healthier and they have a lot better choices in my pantry and fridge than pre-op.
So today was a neat little wow coming from my 13 yr. old son. I'd come in from the garden with about 7 cups of fresh-picked raspberries that smelled divine. I asked him what his preference was with them: to munch, should I make a pie, should I make a batch of jam or should I freeze them to make smoothies? He said freeze them for smoothies and actually looked excited! Yeah!!!
It's small progress but it is still progress.

Progress is progress...you're so right!! Fortunately for my, my family has slimmed down with me, except for my oldest who was waaay to skinny to begin with, he's actually put on some weight (good weight). My family wow moment was when my youngest was at day camp and one of his counselors came up to me and asked what was ok for him to have for lunch. Apparently, he was given choices and they weren't necessarily healthy ones, so he wasn't sure what to eat. He'd tell them, I'm not supposed to have the white bread, no mac and cheese, no sugar food, etc. I was so proud considering he's 5 years old and away from mom. He could have eaten ANY thing that he wanted without me saying something.
Good luck getting that family on track!!
Yeah that is awesome. With kids having the problems they are having these days with obesity at such earlier ages and all the complications that go along with obesity I think its important that we teach them as much as we can without them going overboard (the hard part I think) but that is so great that your son was able to make a healthy decision, has to feel good to you as his mom! Yeah, congrats!
