anyone still dump?
Well I am mixed on this one. I dumped this am on kashi go lean....aarrrggg and I really like that..but I ate it before and it didn't make me dump. Cereal and oatmeal have always been rough on me. I know you eat it all the time Melissa and it doesn't make you dump.
Anyone dump on anything else???? Just curious
Erin
When I was roughly 2 months out, I dumped on some chinese food. I've since stayed away. However about a month ago, I dumped on a protein bar, which I'd been eating since VERY early out. It was strange since there was only 1g of sugar with no sugar alcohols. So, I don't know what the deal was with that. I also dumped on carrots, so I've not eaten them since. I checked the nutrition info on the Kashi go lean last night and found the sugar content higher than was recommended by my NUT, so I decided against it.
Bu****ermelon...I can eat that all day, and have once. Weird, huh?
Nope not at all, never.
I have overeaten a couple of times and gotten the foamies, but never dumped. I am afraid that as long as I eat slow and do not overfill my pouch that I could eat anything. I am not happy about it. Not that I want to be sick, but I am afraid that my old habits will return someday and there will be nothing to stop them.
Oh well it is something I have to live with and be even more diligent about, I guess.
Hi Shawneena, You know I cannot eat those protien bars at all....I cannot stand the taste of them. I would rather munch on a piece of ckn. I know alot of people like them, but not for me I guess. I dumped on watermelon one time, really bad. I dump less now then I did in the begining for sure, but I still do.
Just food for thought here. I think one of the reasons some dump on something one time or another doesn't necessarily have to be about that particular food but the rate in which you ingest it also matters. How fast that food goes from our stomach/stoma to the intestine makes a difference too I heard. Could it be you ate it quicker tonight? I also use very little milk b/c I don't want it to run through too fast, just thinking outloud.. hmmmmm sorry this happened to you. I don't dump on that you are right. I don't dump on anything so far. I don't go outside my normal foods or tes****ers to find out either though. I would be very upset if I dumped on Kashi.. I love it, so sorry Erin. Think back though to how fast you were eating it and how much milk you used.. good luck.
Melissa you may be right, I will be aware of that next time. BUt still grains don't agree with me. I am afraid of eating oatmeal again for sure....and I used to love it.
This is going off the subject but I saw a response to how much we should be eating in a day and this one lady said her surgeons guidelines were 3 oz 3 x a day and that was it for life. Yeah if you want to be 90 lbs. That seems unhealthy to me what do you think??
I think that is unrealistic and unhealthy. Just from knowledge of being a nurse with the nutrition classes I have taken I can tell you that the body CANNOT get all its proper nutrients on a total of 9 oz of food a day for LIFE. Sure we need smaller amounts to lose weight intially, that is the goal of surgery. But for LIFE??? I mean I just can't understand nor even start to rationalize this doc's theory for why this would be suitable for any person. Maybe there is something specific to that patient, I can't imagine what it would be. Go by what your doc says and don't let these extremes make you second guess yourself. You are doing fabulous! Too bad about the grains.. I would keep trying them just as I keep trying milk. They say trying things over and over eventually the body lets its guard down a lot of time. Give it time and just try to reintroduce it and hopefully you will tolerate it more in the future.
