Hey guy just curious on your opinions of rice cakes. In the afternoon I crave something crunchy so I eat a 90 cal pack of rice cakes not everyday, but it helps. I know they are useless calories however are they totally blowing it. What do you think!!! THanks Erin

Hi Erin, I honestly do not touch them b/c rice cakes is made of "white rice". Another trigger food for me as it will spike my sugar and create cravings. If I must have something crunchy like this I will eat a handful of soy chips. I rarely even eat these but they are there for that type of thing. I love the white cheddar ones, plus they have good protein to boot, dipped in homeade hummus even better!

I have the soy crisps and they are pretty good, ( I have half a bag at work)I only wish they would come in carmel corn. Well I will try and watch it they don't really spike any cravings but when in the losing phase I need to be diligent. Thanks for the advice. Have a great week...Erin

I've never tried the flavored packs like you are talking about, but I do have a package of regular unflavored rice cakes that I sometimes use for a "pb & j" mockup. It is actually soynut butter, sugar-free grape preserves and the rice cake but it is satisfying. Either the rice cake with that or a Wasa. Guess I never read the label to know that they are made from white rice, that is a bummer. When this package is gone I'll look for a new brand made from brown rice. Funny that Melissa should mention the soy crisps, I just ate an ounce of them for a meal along with a half cup of marinated cucumbers. Weird, but satisfying! Molly

Molly I have had the peanut butter and the rice cake. Very good. I was looking at what you have been eating on the posts. You're a revision right? I asked because to me you eat very little amounts and I am so worried about pouch stretching. I really try and limit my amount to no more that 8oz. When I was 2 mo out I was eating 6 oz no problem. They must have made your tummy little bitty. Thanks for the wealth of info and the recipies..... Have a wonderful week and don't work too hard!!!! Erin

Nope, it started out as 1 oz. capacity which seems to be pretty standard. The old VBG pouch started out as 3 oz. and was waaay to big by the time it was all healed and back to it's old stretchy self. I think my amounts have stayed small from lagging behind you all here because of my strictures. The last dilation was in February so it was as if I was starting from surgery size at that point instead of growing all the way from December. Plus, you'll see that foods that are really wet or mush down a lot like watermelon or marinated cucumbers I can eat a lot more. Dense meats like chicken or tuna I can usually only manage two or three ounces and that is by volume, not weight. Are you still using small dishes and utensils? I am going to try to never go back to regular sized dishes again. Sure hope that lasts!!! My little sushi dishes really help my eyes with portion control. I know that if I was eating off a salad plate from my regular dishes I'd load up a lot more food and not be measuring. But only a certain amount fits on my sushi dishes so I can't overdo it. You have a wonderful week too! Molly

Don't know if you have a Safeway in the area, but I found these in the cracker aisle. I can seldom eat the full "serving". But I love them, and everyone I let taste them tries to steal them. John WM Macy's CheeseCrisps - Cheddar & Asiago 10 crisps 130 calories (like I said, I usually munch about 5-6 at a time) Fat 5g Sodium 160mg Total Carbs 15g (1 carb serving if you eat all 10) Sugars 0g Protein 6g These are my occasional treat, and even then I usually add either cheese or a deli meat with them, so they are even more protein.
