Pretty much anytime, not everytime, I stand up I feel dizzy. Not enough to black out or anything but enough to have to stand still to get my bearings again. Anybody else suffer from this since the surgery or do you think this is even surgery related? Thanks for any input.

Amy, count me in on that. It has bothered me ever since I went back to work at the end of January. Not so much at home though...weird. My pcm told me that if it got worse we'd need to adjust my bp meds but I am down to two of them now and my bp is well regulated so he hasn't changed it. Really wish I could get off all the bp meds but two is better than the three pre-op so I can't complain. I am wondering if it may be from my anti-depressant. Temporary dizziness is listed as one of the common side effects. Don't know. But I doubt that mine is surgery related, more likely to be from the way my meds affect me now that I'm thinner. Molly

That happens to me a lot too. My doctor told me that a lot of mine has to do with dumping. It does happen often after I eat and they told me to really watch the carbs closely. I get lightheaded and heart palpitations when I dump. But mine happens when I get too full and that doesn't take much. In the beginning right after I had my surgery I did almost black out and I thought it was because of my low iron. I like the boards because of this reason because I thought I was the only one with a problem like this. It kind of scares me sometimes though. What if I really did black out? Anyway just thought I'd let you know that you're not the only one. Kristina

Mine got so bad, I called the surgeon and he had me go to the ER. They checked for dehydration, but that was negative, all my blood levels were great too. Diagnoses was Vertigo (idiopathic "no known cause") I was given Antivert and sent home with instructions for treatment. Don't lay down all the way, sit up slowly from laying position, don't stand up too fast, etc. I had this happen once before surgery too though. I just thought it was something I was prone to.

I had a check up with the surgeon today so I asked her and she said that the rapid weight loss can indeed cause the light headness and so can dehydration ( i drink a gallon a day so it's not that). She said the same thing a previous poster said to get slower, take your time. On a better note she said my blood work was perfect.

I have the same problem. I agree even with some tests i am having now it will end up idiopathic im sure! Right now i wear a portable ekg moniter to make sure there nothing with the heart but i highly doubt that. I do sometimes get to the point i black out which is what made me go to the dr. I still put my bets on its something nutritionally going to try to experiment with some foods/vitamins even tho my labs are good. someone said try more salt too. Definatly is a common thing without a common answer
