Doctor's goal

I had my 6 month check up yesterday... First I was bummed because even though I had my blood work done almost three weeks ago, the Dr had not received it! I asked him what he thought my goal should be and he said 160. I was shocked! 160 will not even get me out of the "over weight" range on the BMI scale. I chose 145 because that would put me well with in "normal" range. Now granted considering where I was I would be happy if I weighed 160 for the rest of my life, but I really thought I would lose more than that. He did say that is not my ideal weight, but rather what he thought is a realistic goal for me to shoot for. So while I am still going to try and get down to 145 (or I was even hoping for 135), I guess I will be happy with where ever my body decides to stop. How did you all arrive at your goal weight?

Hello Hockey Mom! My doc said anything below 165 is good for me. However I want to be in a normal BMI also, so I say 140, that puts me smack in the middle of a normal BMI with a height of 5'5". I am noticing some major slow down in the weight loss in month 6 so I hope I can get there. I play by all rules and exercise so wherever it wants to stop I suppose is just gonna have to be good enough. I hope to make it to goal though. I would have to lose approximately 45 more pounds to get there. I got down to 183 but for some reason this week went up to 188, did nothing wrong, no cheating, no anything! So weird.. so today I got down to 185.5 so I am hoping to get those extra pounds back off and get the scale moving in the right direction. I think it is ok for us to strive for lower, why not? I think they gives us a higher goal so we don't feel disappointed and if you read literature on bariactric surgery it says anything above 65-75% weight loss is considered a success so I think they base their goal weight on that. Not good enough for me though, I have to admit.. I want to lose at least 90%. Just keep following the rules (the basics) and you will eventually meet your goal or come as close as possible, this is how I feel anyways.

My doctors goal is 160 as well, I would like it to be 145. What is wierd is how everyone seems to have stalled. I mean we are all different body types we all eat differently but we are all stalling. Well just need to work at it. You know I still feel fat and I don't think I will feel really thin until I get to my goal. Just keep loggin in and we'll keep supporting each other. I remember before you had your surgery you were having 2nd thoughts and look how far you have come now. All of it is an acomplishment!!! Talk to you soon..Erin
