Quick Meals
I need some help on some quick meal ideas. I am just home from work and have to leave shortly (like 20 minutes) for golf. I have this problem every week because I never know what to eat. I don't or can't eat reheated meat so I can't make something ahead of time. Any suggestions for a quick meal. OH ya.... I can't do protein shakes either.
Thanks for all and any suggestions!!
Nancy
Quickies:
I always have some chili on hand that I can heat in the microwave. I put some cheese on top for extra protien.
I also make Chicken Tortilla soup and freeze it in individual conatiners.
I can make a meal of cottage cheese when I need to.
Those are my stand-bys for when time is short (which seems to be more often than not lately!)
Nancy, my current two standby's are food-processor chopped cooked chicken and food-processor'd tuna and salsa. Because of my strictures (I guess) I have trouble with meats and if I don't pre-chop them they get promptly stuck. So, once a week I make up a batch of pre-portioned meats and can grab them in a hurry to eat cold. The chicken goes down without getting stuck with either some salsa and a sprinkle of cheese or some fat free ranch dressing. I personally no longer eat breads, but if I want some carbs with either of those meats I have some rice crackers.
Lately I've also been on a cucumber kick and lovin it. I take out the seeds and chop them up into nice pieces and marinate in some German vinegar and Mrs. Da**** makes a good accompaniment to the meats and is another food to moisten up the meats and make them go down ok yet not wash them out of the pouch.
Ok, so I'm not very adventurous but it works for me. LOL

Hi Nancy. I found that I tolerate the Slim Fast High Protein Meal Bars really well. They have 15 grams of protein and 200/190 calories each (Peanut Butter - 200, Choc Chip 190) 8 grams sugar. The best part is they really keep you satisfied for a long time. I keep a couple of them in my purse at all times since I never know when I might need to have a meal on the go. I've found the best place to get them is Walmart because they sell boxes of 5 of them for $4.77.
i find that pria bars are also helpful for me as well as low fat yogurt... both have a chunk of protein and go down well... pria bars are my blesing as i always have one in the car with me... don't know where you are from, but if you have an ocean state job lot nearby, they have pria bars for 50 cents each ( and they go on sale for 3 for 1 dollar)! Good luck
