How are 12/06 folks coping?
Hey everyone:
How is everyone coping with a slower weight loss? I can't tell you how nuts I feel that my weight loss has slowed from 6 lbs per week to 2-3....if I'm lucky. I am still losing, but at a snail's pace. I want those last 36 lbs so much I can taste it.
I am working out everyday and following the program's recommendations, so this is more just a post to see how everyone is dealing with the decrease in weekly weight loss. I know a few of you are an exception, I read it in the posts, and I am thrilled you are still losing at 5 lbs per week. I am just not one of those people....
Thanks for the support y'all!
Megan
Hi Megan, We have the same surgery day! I just posted before I saw yours I have lost 73 since surgery. It has slowed down for me too. That's why today was a breaking plataeu for me. I still only get 3 times a week in for excerise and I need to drink more water. But I still feel if we just keep doing what we know to do it will come off. I read alot how it slows up then it starts up again so hang in there. Well hang together!lol Betty
I had surgery on 12/11 have lost 75 feel im slowwwwwwwwwwww loser.... I wanna lose like 75 more but i have to say im eatin things that i shouldnt be ...i think.....im not eatin like things with sugar or no soda.... but like general tso, and some fried things...i need to get back on track....gl with weight lose....I live 50 miles ne of pitt and never been to support group cause so far away and at night.....but i really need to go to 1 Love Marsha
I am a slow looser now too. Maybe a pound a week. I also have been put on no strenuous exercise from my doctor which means I can not go to the gym. It is so crappy because I was doing 5X a week and now I basically do nothing. I am still trying to walk 5X a week but I found my motivation is gone. I also have no energy part of the reason I can't go to the gym. OH well I guess that is part of the game.
i'm a slow loser also--down about 70lbs since 12/21/06. of that, i lost 60lbs in the first 4 months and only about 10 lbs in the last 2 months--very frustrating, since ideally i'd like to loose another 38lbs. on the upside, my BMI is 26.8 now, down from 38 at the time of surgery and it's possible that my weight loss is so slow now because i'm getting pretty close to a healthy range.
i'm really hope afraid that i will stop losing or start gaining back--i'm eating ,much more now thanin the first few months post WLS and get hungry much faster--i really need to watch what and how much i eat again

Megan, what a cute picture of you! From reading the replies here I'd say we are pretty much the norm instead of being slow losers having lost around 70# at this point. By my doctor's comments, I am losing too quickly but that is ok with me. At this point I'm lucky to lose 1# a week...sometimes it is only half but at least the numbers are still going down so I'm not discouraged at all.
My workouts have stopped completely except for the regular workout I get with my job. However...it is now gardening season and I am out there at least 4x a week really going at it hard. About a month ago I had to take a few weeks off because I tored cartilige in my ribs while gardening. So I know I am getting good workouts doing that.
Based on people's comments, I don't think I'm even going to try to shoot for my goal weight of 130 and stick with the doctor's goal of 145. I'm getting a lot of those "You've lost too much, eat something!"...or "Molly is looking anorexic." Whew, never thought the day would come when someone would say that about me and I think it is only because they are just used to seeing me fat for so many years that looking this way isn't 'right' to them. In no way do I actually look anorexic.
At least I am watching my calorie intake a lot better these days. It is so hard to keep it in the right range on days when I'm really hungry.
