One-day Experiment
Ok...I am being honest here and know you won't flame me. Today I am doing a one-day dietary experiment just for pure fun and enjoyment. I will have two Isopures so I still get my protein needs met but for the rest of the day I am going to eat whatever I want from a pre-measured 8-cup container of tiny watermelon chunks. It is lovely weather and I plan on being in and out of the house a lot gardening and working on honey-do projects and am just looking forward to the freedom of eating whenever I want and not on the prescribed schedule. So it'l be a half cup of chunks here and there until I'm either sick of it or its gone.
Being spring and with all this wonderful-tasting fresh produce in the stores now just made me 'head hungry' for a big fruit-fest. Have eaten a lot of strawberries lately and now we have some good melons in the stores so I WANT some watermelon. This will get it out of my system and hopefully allow me to have it and be 'done' with it and then get back to my regular eating regimine. I think it will be fun!
Have a wonderful day! I'll let you know how it goes.
Molly
End of day report: I'm not doing this again! Loved the watermelon, loved eating only when I was hungry but I missed my regular protein foods. This was a good experiment for me because it taught me that food just doesn't have the real power over me that it once did. Cravings used to get the best of me and derail my good eating habits followed by guilt. Now, I satisfied the craving and enjoyed it but was sorry to not be eating the foods my body wanted (not just the tastebuds).
Plus...with all the water in the watermelon I had a hard time getting in my water during the day. I know I made the required ounces but didn't manage the second Isopure so the day came up short on protein. Not smart. But I did get a LOT of gardening done and made a huge dent in my to-do list.
Despite good sunblock, I am a little sunburned and very tired. Going to bed now!

Molly, glad to see that your body recognizes what it needs. Watermelon is not bad. I thought when I started reading this thread that you were going to go hog wild with what ever food was in your reach. I have had a couple chuncks of watermelon, some blueberries, banana. Just a bit so I could get in my protein. Have a great weekend. I am going to do a gardening project for a school. It is my son's Webelos den service project.
Corinn
Corinn, I suppose my body has always recognized what it needed but until freeing it from the power of sugar and processed foods I wasn't able to listen to it. Today I am back on my regular schedule, have already had my weekend protein shake and boy was it yummy! I made an orange mocha (the one I posted on the bypass forum) and it tasted like heaven to me and my pouch loved it too. Looking forward to my tuna for lunch today. Who would have ever thought I'd think of tuna as a treat????
It is cooler here today and supposed to be even cooler tomorrow so I'm very glad that i really pushed yesterday and got so much gardening done. Not that it is 'done' but at least there is less on my to-do list for this weekend. Your Webelos project will be fun, we did one with my son's den when he was that age and everybody enjoyed it.

Come do my yardwork, Molly! I've just now managed to make my husband realize the front side yard IS part of the front yard and has to be mowed. LOL
I bought honeydew... oh gonna love that for my snacking this week! And I got some mangoes to ripe and hit the food processor with some pineapple to make a salsa to go over my pork chops this upcoming weekend. hmmmmm...
I realize when I'm running low on my protein, it's about the only time I'm legitimately hungry. I'll be sitting there thinking.. hmmm.. I might be hungry.. nah, it's head hunger. Then a few minutes later I find my tush wiggling outside the frige, and I'm digging for string cheese or yogurt. As I sit there eating it, I'll review and realize... "Oops! didn't eat enough today!"
Just like I did tonight. LOL At about 9pm, I'm in the frige.. then I realized, all I'd ate that day was three bites of pizza (including the crust) then the rest of the cheese and toppings (canadian bacon & pineapple), and a Smart Ones dinner entree. Gee, that was what, a whole whopping maybe 30g of protein. No wonder smarty pants pouch wanted more protein!
Heather, that is so cool! I really wish that I was one of the lucky ones with no hunger for months on end but mine came back within the first few weeks. The way I healed so quickly and overhealed is prob. why I had so many strictures. My tummy has always been a good little calorie processor. Your pork chops and homemade salsa sound so good! If I could eat that i'd come over and do some yardwork for sure. My meats are all still run through the food processor first so it prob. wouldn't look as pretty as yours. LOL
