I am so happy to say that the scale is finally moving again. I have lost 3 pounds with a total weight loss of 69 pounds. Thank you everyone on this web site for your kind words of support. I am so glad I found this surgery page so I can see how eveyone who had surgery around the same time that I did are doing. My son graduates from Temple Univerisity Thursday night with his Masters in Education and I will be wearing my size 1X dress the proudest mom ever. My dress size is down 4 sizes from when I attended his high school graduation in 1996. So that is quite an accomplishment!!! Rosemary

Hi Erin: I was eating more protein in the morning, 12oz. milk with 2 scoops of whey protein which totaled 42gs. and then the rest of the day I was just eating fruit and then making up the protein in the evening. I was also taking trail mix (1/2 c) with me to my second job. But when I got on the scale the morning after all the excitement of losing 3 pounds I had a major disappointment. I gained 4 pounds back. I posted on the DE web site and some of the people who had WLS surgery 3 years ago with good advise told me to decrease the protein in the morning (no more then 20gs at a time) cut back on the fruit, add oatmeal with flaxseed and cut out the tail mix (to high in calories) So I am trying this. I am down 1 pound now, not as good as 3 pounds, but still better then not losing at all. I will let you know how this goes. Rosemary

Congratulations........I GAINED 5 pds in the last few weeks and this week 3 of them came off. I had made popcorn 2 nights and we had chinese food and I ate some of the meat and had soup so I am thinking it might have been salt. I was SO UPSET!! I am glad you are losing again WTG on the 1x and congratulations to your son!!! Diana

Hi Dee, We have about the same stats. Surgery date: 12/8/06 Start weight: 233.6 Current weight: 164 Goal weight : 130 Height: 5'2- small frame I went to my 6 month appt today, all my labs were perfect, no more meds for anything, just my vitamins and I can tolerate most everything, except whole milk. I drink protein in the morning to start my day and eat most of my meals during the day. I dont usually eat after 7pm and I must get all of my water in. one thing I am slacking on (and my surgeon commented today) is the exercise. I have been bad, bad, bad with exercise and know that now that 6 months is here, I need to really tone up some and build some muscle. My stomach is very flabby and my arms are flabby. I even have some flab on inner thighs. I have lost the weight and know that I will be able to get it toned up, I have just been lazy. I eat about 6 ounces of food at a time and make sure I eat/drink 3 meals a day to get it all in. I went groc shopping today and bought stuff like yogurt and fruit and will start back cooking so that I will have lunch for the next day. I am saving a lot of lunch money but still eating out is costing a lot in the long run. I split meals with my friend at work but it is still spending money when I need to spend the money on groceries. You are doing good, losing it slower is not bad at all, I have been losing about 10 pounds a month on average and I am happy with that. You have lost 10 pounds a month too and that is fabulous. Don't compare yourself to others, you are on the right track. The last couple of months, I have lost 8 pounds, I am expecting 8 pounds this month too (my 6th month anniv is Friday) . I was at 171 on 5/8/07 and at 164 this morning, I dont know if I will lose 3 pounds to make it to 161, I doubt it in 2 days but I will take what I can get, if its 8, good, if its 10, good. Keep me posted on your progress and good luck to you! Angela

I have been at a plateau for a couple of weeks now... I think some of it is motivation though... i did put on a dress for an interview a few days ago, my daughter said i couldnt wear it cause it hang! and to think it was too tight before... i am buying size 12's (down from elastic waste 18s and 20s) and i feel good! hope to get down to size 8's dont have a goal weight, but i think i have about 40 to go! lost 70 since the start!

Hi Tara: I wish I was wearing a size 12 dress!!! Your must be doing something right, so keep up the good work! Don't get discouraged with the 2 week plataeu. The closer you get to your goal the slower your body will get to lossing the weight. Keep up your same food intake, protein, water and vitamins. I noticed that part of the reason that I was not losing was it was getting harder to take in all my protein. I went last week for my 5 month check up and bought a case of Isopure (40g protein) now at night when I come up short on the protein I drink either a whole bottle or half a bottle (depending how much protein I need) and I have started losing again. I have now lost 72 pounds. I'm still not losing as fast as I would like to and the Dr. agreed that my body is resisting the weight loss. I need surgery on my knee and I hope when I recover I can start excersizing. Let me know how you do? Rosemary
