Who dumps?
Like the other posters I haven't dumped, though I too have had the pain of something stuck which was horrible and made me heave, but as soon as it was dislodged I was fine. I've had some sweeter things in small bites but nothing with full sugar (i.e a serving of no sugar added ice cream, pineapple bread, mini homemade cocoa biscotti). I haven't really pushed it on the sugar and I always limit my sugar+sugar alcohols to less than 15 grams per serving. So far, keeping to that rule I haven't had any dumping at all which is good and bad.
I dont know if there have been minor adjustments/revisions made with the pouch that reduces dumping, but it is possible. I have dumped. I have eaten alot of things I shouldnt have and dumping is possible. In general I really have only dumped twice, despite eating many dessert type items.
The worst I have dumped was on some sort of con leche ice cream. It was vanilla with carmel swirls in it. I probably ate 1/2 cup, and my heart was racing while sitting still about 15 minutes later. That was probably my worst dumping experience.
I have eaten other sugary foods and not dumped, but I notice I feel horrible after eating them. Its more than just emotionally feeling bad from eating something I know I shouldnt, its like you really feel "drained" with this sluggish noxious feeling.
Haven't dumped, but oh baby Jesus, would have loved to! My husband brought home a 7 layer chocolate chocolate cake, with chocolate shavings from the restaurant where he works. It sat and sat, and then I couldn't stand it. I ate a slice probably as wide as your thumb.
Heart thumping, queasy feeling, and just generally didn't feel right. It lasted for about 2 hours, had to finally curl up on the bed, and just wait it out. That was the LAST time I got near pure sugar. Now, if it's not sugar free, or no sugar added, I will only take one or two bites at tops.
I haven't dumped yet. I haven't tested the waters either, I was a sugarfree eater before surgery so I don't have a craving for sugar or sweets ( I am watching my sugar alcohols ), my nutrtionist said you can dump from fried foods too and of course that was my weakness luckily I have found creative ways to get a similar taste from baking my meats.
Hey Hockey Mom!
I dumped accidentally 4 days post op on regular soy mil I had added to sugar free hot cocoa, way back in December. The experience was so horrific, I have NOT tested the waters since then. I am too afraid, that was nasty, last 45 minutes, and I don't want to have it happen again.
Best,
Megan
