What does a typical meal consist of?
I can eat the following just fine:
1 wasa cracker with 2 oz turkey, 1 oz of cheese and 1 thin slice of tomato
2-3 oz chicken, 1-2 oz cottage cheese on the side
3/4 cup chili
1/2 - 3/4 pkg of sf oatmeal with protein powder in it.
3 small strips of chicken fajita meat with 4-5 strips of onions and peppers with tbsp ff sour cream and tbsp of salsa
1 1/2 eggs with cheese
1 oz beef jerky and 1 oz mozzerella stick
What does your typical meal consist of? What is it and how much? Just trying to get an idea.. thanks.
My Dr. is a little strict on what we eat, but he is awesome.
My average intake is:
1 oz beef jerky w/ about 1 oz x sharp cheddar
1-2 oz tri tip w/ 2 oz sauteed veggies
3 oz chili
2 oz deli ham w/ 1 oz x sharp cheddar
2 oz sf oatmeal w/ 1 slice crispy bacon
2 oz chicken w/ 2 ox veggies
I usually get pretty full with any of these. I think we are at about the same intake amounts. It is nice to see that I am not the only one who can not do the 3 oz protein w/ 2 oz fruit or veggies 5 times a day.

Wow,you girls know to know how to eat the right stuff,I must be doin it all wrong then, cause at lunch I seem to eat is from "Mcdonalds" bacon/ranch salad and instead of ranch I use lowfat Italian dressing, w/grilled chicken and a cold strawberry protein shake.
Dinner I'll have a couple of tamale's and a strawberry protein shake.
I would like to know If thats too much for me to eat thru out the day.I do skip breakfast, cause I'll mostly sleep thru it anyways lol.I wish I could eat like you girls it sounds like your doin awsome with the meals.

Hi Tony
I don't think, personally, that you are doing anything wrong. My doctor and my nutritionist both told me that this surgery is not meant to keep you away from the food you like, but to help you eat them in moderation and still lose weight and be healthy. I also eat McDonalds salads every once in a while, I eat rice, I eat meats, I can eat anything but bread and roasted chicken. But I even eat pizza and my Dr knows about it.
I do not measure like crazy the food that I eat because if I wanted to do that, I could have done it before the surgery too. I eat as much as my body allows me to eat. I fill full pretty quickly and if I take one bite too many, my body will always find the way of getting rid of it.
Don't beat yourself up by comparing yourself to others, I do it also and its not worth it. Try to eat as healthy as possible, try not to skip breakfast, and keep taking your protein and vitamin supplements. I am sure you are doing a wonderful job.
Keep me posted of your progress at [email protected]
Stay healthy

I'm mostly 3 meals a day now, just because my schedule doesn't allow me to fit in 5. I'm lucky to remember 1 snack. But the PA told me that was fine.
So, I'm 3-4 oz of protein, and then if not too full 2 oz of fruit/veggie, for most of my meals. Lunch tends to be just protein, as I usually fit in an afternoon snack of yogurt and fruit.
So:
B- 3 oz of cottage cheese, with 2 oz of fruit
L: 4 oz of whatever protein I have handy (Friday was meat sauce w/ tomatoes for spaghetti)
S: Yogurt and 2oz of fruit .. or 1 oz beef jerky and fruit
D: 4 oz of protein (such as grilled chicken) and 2 oz of veggies (like green beans)
I can fit in about 4-6 ounces at a time and mostly eat 3 meals a day. I really have NO desire to eat any more than that or more often than that. I find that when I am getting full, I just all of a sudden get SICK of even seeing the food there and have to get rid of it. I try to eat a variety of things so that I do not fall short on my nutritional values so I vary it up but here's some examples:
mexican food- 1 beef fajita, occasionally I can eat the meat out of a 2nd one but not the whole 2nd one. I can eat 2 enchiladas.
chinese food- I can eat chinese chicken (Spicy)-approx 3 ounces with about 2 TB of chinese rice, I can usually fit in 1 eggroll.
Fast food- I can usually eat 1/2 of a small hamburger and then the meat only of the other one. I cannot eat a whole small hamburger or I feel sick. I cannot eat chicken nuggets from Mcdonalds, I cant stand the grease--that used to be one of my favorite foods.
Olive Garden- I can eat 1/4 of the seafood alfredo, with just 1 bite of bread and 1 bite of salad.
Chilis- I can eat 2 baby back ribs and 1/2 monterrey chicken (with bacon) and about 2 pieces of broccoli
Blackeyed pea- I can eat a cup of beans and 2 chicken strips
Seafood- I can eat 1/2 piece of fried fish and 2 shrimp
At home, I can eat 1 boneless pork chop from the grill, I can eat the small meals like weigh****chers, michelinas or south beach, I eat a lot of the tuna salad kits or the chicken salad kits.
I eat lunch a lot with my coworker and we usually split our meal- she eats about 3/4 of the meal and I eat the rest.
I usually drink a protein drink for breakfast, a regular lunch and something very small for dinner. I dont do a lot of snacking but occasionally I will eat 2 graham cracker squares (low sugar , plain ones) or will eat some cantaloupe, this is IF I have room for anything else later in the day.
Whew, this was long. I'm really interested in what other people are eating too.

Any of the following items (not all at once of course) for meals:
Breakfast:
1 Dannon Naturals yogurt (they are the tiny, tiny ones that have no sugar, all natural, they are expensive, but rock!)
1/2 C oatmeal-Weight Healthy from Quaker (no/low sugar) with a scoop of Chocolate Matrix protein powder
Lunch or Dinner:
1-1.5 Cups of any soup (liquid only)
3/4 C Chili
2 Imitation crab meat legs (good protein, there's actual fish in them)
3/4 C 1% Cottage Cheese---I live off of this stuff!
3/4 C Spaghetti-O's with a scoop of soy protein powder mixed in
Various items with meals:
2 reduced fat string cheese sticks (1 with each meal-lunch/dinner)
1/2 tangerine
1/2 apple
1/2 C cantaloupe
1/2 C baby veggies, steamed
3-5 "Melba Snacks" whole grain crackers
I am a non meat eater, fish, dairy, eggs only. I have not tried to eat fish fillets in 1 month because I threw salmon and tilapia up the last two times I tried to have them. I will re-attempt fresh fish in a month or so.
My diet is definitely limited, but I am keeping down what I eat, so no complaints.
