Are you including your preop weight loss in your totals?

Just curious. I have lost 60 pounds since surgery, 48 preop and 16.5 of those preop pounds on the required preop liquid diet. Are you guys including your preop diet weight loss in your weight loss totals? That would put me at 76.5 ponds lost. I just feel so behind with only 60 pounds lost since surgery. Thanks!

Not me,didn't have to do the pre-op weight loss,I told my Doctor I've tried for many years to loose weight and he sent me to do all the other testing and that was it. And Melissa you are doin very good on the weight loss I wouldn't worry about it,trust me we have a long way to go before its all said and done,I mean we got 18months right lol,Yea It aint over till the skinny lady sings lol.Goodluck on the weight loss hun and Godbless

Thanks Tony, I really appreciate your kind words! Thanks so much. Hey by the way... I am a native to Kansas City, MO. I almost chose your doctor, I beleive he was at Shawnee Mission, KS at the time thought? I could be wrong. I saw so many surgeons before I finally chose one. We moved from KC which is why I didn't pick any in that area. I have only been in Iowa maybe three years. I visit KC almost every month or two. I don't work during the week, just weekends so it makes it nice to get back home a lot. I love my hometown!!!

I think generally people only count their post-op weight loss as what they have lost since the morning of surgery. But 60 pounds is nothing to sneeze at... espcially given you'd already started the losing process before your surgery. I know for myself I always keep both figures in my mind but I only refer to the weight I lost since the day of surgery as my official surgical weight loss because I know if I didn't have the surgery the other weight I lost would have just come back anyway.

Yeah, I pretty much only count what I lost since surgery since I can't give my 48 pounds lost preop credit to the surgery itself. I was just curious, I feel I am losing slower than most at my stage in the game about 10-15 pounds slower and thought.. hmmm maybe they are including whats in their liquid diet also. Guess not, I am a slower loser, oh well... I will get there eventually!! Thanks Crista for the advice.

I say from my surgery, so 60 lbs, but if someone says, "Wow, that's a lot." I just grin and add, "Well, and 20lbs before.. so 80lbs probably since the last time you saw me, or I was my highest weight."

Hi Heather, were are at the same point, 60 pounds lost since surgery, good job my friend! I went to work for a skills day and saw a bunch of nurses I hadn't seen from the other campus since before surgery, they were amazed when they saw me, that made me feel good. Next goal is onederland!!! I can't wait! Hope those braces are feeling better these days! I remember those oh so well.. ouch!!!!

Braces are doing much better. Now if I can get over sounding like Cobra Commander for the next 2 weeks, while I wear my bands (doc wants them on for 3 weeks), all will be good. And if my brother quits telling me .. "Sis, say, "I like to shoot snakes and sharks!" Oh, I'd like to shoot something all right!

I only had two weeks between all my pre-op stuff and surgery so my totals are all together. They did not weigh me before surgery because it was so close to my pre-op. I do not own a scale so I have no idea what I was before surgery. I maybe lost 10 pounds (if I was lucky) so I just lump it all together. So I am down 95 pounds since surgery. You are doing AWSOME!!! WoW NANCY!! You are such an inspiration, you are doing incredible. Wish I could say I have lost that much since surgery.. a lot of mine is preop too. Keep up the awesome work!
