Bad pain in left side

I had my surgery 12-27-06 and have lost 53 lbs. I had complications 5 days post op and that landed me back in the hospital for 14 days. My surgeon keeps assuring me that the complication is past and wont occur again. However, Sunday I was sorting laundry and I reached down and way out to pick up something and got a severe pain in my left side. The severe sharpness went away but I am still sore and it's Thursday. I saw my family doctor yesterday and they did xray's to be sure. But where she mashed around on me so hard - now I am really hurting!!! It makes me worry that it's something more but I'm not running a fever at all, no nausea, still have the little appetite that I had... I just hurt!!! Has anyone else had a problem with a pulled muscle? I'd love to hear some reassuring stories... Thanks, Leeann

I had my surgery on 12/19. A few says later I bent at the waist and had a sharp pain to the left of my belly button. It was very tender for a few days. I went for my post op a few days later and told the Dr about it. He said he was sure it was a nerve. Seems they have to cut through a lot of nerves to get to where they need to be for the surgery. Every once in a while that spot will feel a little numb, but it is getting back to normal. I hope what you are experiencing is something like that. Congrats on the weight loss! WOW

I had a bad pain in my left side too. I was told that the left side intestines had more work done and they will be tender/sore on occassion or for a bit. It has finally gone away but lasted about a week or so. Hope it feels better soon Brina

My left side hurt like that for a long time. I didn't feel completely well until about 6 weeks out. They do most of the laproscopic action through that left side incision (or as my surgeon said, that's where we stick in the stapler) The muscle has been cut and been through quite a bit. Take it easy and drink your protein. All the best Sharon

Same thing here in Charleston, SC. It happened to me right at my 1 month date. It hurt for 4-5 days with each day not hurting as much, but it hurt even breathing at first. Of course the Dr. said all it was was the nerves. Jen
