Exercise Support Group - who wants to join?
I've always found that I do better when I have people to help keep me accountable. Also, I've noticed that many of us have hit stalls in our weight-loss adventure, and may need the extra support and encouragement that this group can offer.
Who wants to join me in an Exercise Support Group?! We'd post on this message board, as normal, but with a few requirements:
1 - Each week, on a designated day, each member posts an update of the previous week's exercise habits.
2 - Only positive, encouraging comments are allowed!
That's it! If you want to share what worked for you, what didn't, what joys or struggles you have, that's perfect, too!
Just let me know if you're interested. I think this could be great for all of us looking to break through those mid-month weight-loss stalls!

Krystal, what a great idea! I've been trying to find the motivation to get more exercise than just my job and you may have really hit on the perfect 'gimmick'. Having to report in to the group here would certainly help keep me exercising. In about ten pounds I'm going to be at the point where my VBG surgery stalled so I am getting a bit panicky about keeping the motivation high.
You rock! Let me know when we are going to be posting.

Great, Molly! I'm glad this appeals to someone other than just me...!
I think Fridays are a good day to post - it's right before the weekend, but at the end of the work week when most people have the most trouble getting to the gym. Let me know if that will work for you, okay? I'm going to go ahead and post this Friday and start it off!
On a more personal note... I had a VBG, so when you said that you reached a point where it stalled, I got a little scared! I know it's a bit of an out-dated surgery procedure, so I've definitely heard the negatives for it. Was what went wrong with yours something that was a fluke, or is it likely to happen with all/most VBGs? AH!
Have a great rest of your week! Oh, and for anyone else who wants to join... jump in any time!

Krytal, I don't want to add to any negatives you've already come across about the VBG. You've heard it before, weighed the positives and negatives and made an important step to take charge of your health. That is what really matters. My slide into failure with the VBG was mostly my own fault, not the surgery's--that and the fact that I had very little after-care support from the surgeon. If he'd had a good program in place like Dr. Rawlins has, maybe I would have been more successful but I don't think so. In the end, it was just the wrong surgery for me. When my RNY revision was done everything from the VBG was still intact and in good shape. My 3 ounce pouch was stretched to 1 1/2 cups capacity but that isn't unusual.
Friday sounds good to me, I won't be going to the gym right away but I will be working out at home and trying to make myself get outside for walks more often. You know how hard that is to do when it is cold and gray and you are freezing already! I'd rather get up on my stair-stepper than step outside. (bad, I know!)

Don't worry about the VBG comments/worries - I've researched it enough to be comfortable with the decision. Here's to a healthier us!!!!!
Working out at home is just as beneficial a****ting the gym, so yay for you! I'm thinking that whatever steps we're taking in the exercise department is great - we'll all build up to our full energy potential at different times.
Talk to you tomorrow!
