I'm six weeks post op as of yesterday, and I seem to be able to tolerate less food/liquid instead of more. I've vomited about 4 times in the past week, sometimes with things i've been able to tolerate well previously. Has anyone had experience with this? I see the doc next week for routine follow-up, I'm just wanted more immediate feedback

Sharon, it is a good thing you are seeing the doc next week. He may want to have an EGD done to check you for a stricture. I have one and have already been stretched once and the next stretching is Monday. It needs it too, I can feel it closing up again. Have started vomiting again in the last few days. Bums me out, but at least the 'fix' is quite easy. I'd rather things are tight in there than the opposite but it will be nice to be able to get back to puree again. Post again after your appointment and let us know how you are doing. Molly

I agree with Molly in that it sounds as if you are developing a stricture. If so, it could get worse before it gets better. Thinking of you, Delana

a stricture? you mean the hole in my stomach is closing up? That usually requires an endoscopic procedure, right? God, I"m so broke already, I hope this doesn't cost too much. Insurance pays for some, but in January (deductable time) not very much!

oh my god, I've been having the same problem (throwing up basically every day for the last 5 days or so after just a few bites) but i think it may be b/c i'm slowly trying small quantities of solid foods (salmon, chicken) after 3.5 weeks of liquid/yougurt/protein shakes, etc. if i am, in fact developing a stricture, does anyone know what that entails and how much it typically costs to take care of. I'm now self employed (resigned from my job about a year ago to start my own law practice) and, thus, have no health insurance. I paid $12,500 to have my Lap RNY done in Mexicali, Mexico ( a 3 hour flight from Houston, where I live) so, while I'm really happy w/the doctor there, going back for an exam is not feasible so I'd need to find a local WLS specialist for any post-op complications, check-ups. Any advise from other self-pay WLS patients would be appreciated.
