How often are you eating?
I am 3.5 weeks post op and just swiched to pureed/ soft foods. And over the last few days I am noticing that I am hungry.
Although my pouch gets full very quickly sometimes after 2 or 3 oz so I stop eating so that I won't It seems that 3hours later I am hungry with hunger pains? Is this the same for many of you.
Typical days menu is
upon waking water and drinking water/juice throughout the day
meal 1# ------- protein mixed with milk or nectar protein and water or juice
meal# 2 and 3 ----- are usually 3 oz of soup or pureed meat
eve snack ------ protein mixed with jello/ cool whip or popsicles
Thanks so much. Trying hard not to be hungry in Jersey
First thing in the morning I take my prevacid and have some hot tea. The hot tea is to help the sinus drainage that has landed in my tummy over night.
Then I drink water on the way to work and take my B12 tablet.
8:30 am - Once I get to work I have couple of tablespoons of Fiber One ceral in skim milk and I let it set for a few minutes to get mushy. I take a multi-vitatmin at this time.
10:00 am - Snack time is a protien shake *** and a calcium tablet.
12:30 - For lunch I have 2 tablespoons of tuna with 1 tsp mayo and 2 saltines
3:0 - Snack time is a protien shake *** and a calcium tablet.
5:00 - For dinner I have 2 tablespoons of refried beans with some cheese and sour cream and my other multi vitamin.
Before I go to bed I have my Vitamin C and a drink of orange juice to swallow my Iron tablet.
*** the reason I put the asteriks by the protien shakes is I have not found one I can tolerate yet! I am having a hard time getting the protien in. today I bought some liquid protien I am sure it tastes jsut as bad but you only have to swallow 3 tablespoons so i hope I do better with this.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a try.
Why don't you try the Syntrax nectar brands of protein. you can mix (for me mixing tastes better than blending not as thick) with water, OJ, crystal lite, cool whip, whatever it doesn't taste so bad. They have flavors like lemonade, fuzzy navel, ice tea, strawberry kiwi etc. It still has a slight aftertaste but for me it's pretty tolerable.
You can buy samples online at www.wlssupplies.com
Hope this helps
I am 4.5 weeks post op and I have been released to all foods. I will tell you what I have eaten today. (I slept late because dh and ds are home for a four day weekend and I didn't have to get up...yippee!!)
10:00 AM - Hot cup of SF International Decaf Instant French Vanilla Coffee (I drank half a mug)
11:15 AM - One small wheat tortilla with 1/4 cup scrambled egg beaters, 1 tbsp shredded cheese, 1/2 tsp ff sour cream (ate it like a wrap...usually I can eat about half or 3/4 but today I ate it very slow, chewed liberally and was able to eat the whole thing
1:00 PM - small cup of 1 % milk
2:30 PM - between 1/4 and 1/2 cup of chicken casserole
....right now it's 4:18 and I am drinking half orange juice/half water
I don't know what I will be having for dinner. I think about food ALL DAY though and feel hungry quite often.
From what I read, it doesn't sound like you are eating enough. My doctor said to eat as many as 5 small "meals" per day, or as few as 3 if I wasn't feeling hungry. However, I usually eat 4-5 per day. One "meal" might consist of 4 - 5 small shrimp from a shrimp ****tail ring. Another might be 3 spoons of tuna salad.
