Going back to work
I am 2 weeks post op. I feel physically ready to go back. I had an open RNY so I am out until at least the 29th of January. I am trying already to get myself on the eating pattern that I would have at work. I don't have a real schedule. I do have alot of meetings in my job and I'm more concerned about all the travel. That scares the bejezus out of me. I have been on Bariatric Eating site and gotten some instant protein for work. While I'm at home I can use the blender. I am more worried about people looking at me, seeing what I eat. My boss knows why I needed the surgery and I am sure that most my team knows too. I was very comfortable being the fat and funny one. So work will be a toughy for me. Thank you for listening.

Hi Amy,
Going back to work will be just fine. I went back on January 2. I had so much support and still getting lots of support and lots of questions about my recovery, how much lost, etc. I pack all of my food items in my lunch bag and my bottles of water, gatorade, etc and I am fine throughout the day. Yes, people will look and some will question what you are eating but as long as you are following your doctor and nutritionist orders, they need to mind their own business.
Good luck to you, its new and exciting going back to work, especially wearing smaller clothes and having more energy.

Amy,
Hang in there! I bet, after a few days you will be fine! I think that the fact that other people have to adjust to the new and healthier you will be difficult at first and then you will get the hang of it! I am post op too, and a few close friends have already made comments like " wow , you are looking good", which I KNOW is s'posed to be a compliment, but honestly, I am thinking crap, how bad did I look to begin with? Ahh, It's hard to leave your comfort zone! Good Luck girl, you'll do fine! Cindy
Hi Amy:
I am 4 weeks post op, & was back to work at week #2. I noted that absolutely NO ONE ever noted what I ate! It was bizarre...I think it was part of my own hang ups about people watching me eat pre-op...everyone seems so busy, they have no time to focus on me...I think you wil find it's more a head game...wishing you the best,
Megan
I was able to back to work after two weeks of recovery as well. I also had the same concerns as you do but what I found was a very supportive group of co-workers. I did not hide the reason why I was taking the time off of work. The first few days I was back was filled with all types of question, and I do mean ALL types. I felt the best thing to do was to be transparent to everyone to the point that I showed my boss and few other coworkers my scars from the lap surgery. As far as being on the road you need to get the Magic Bullet. It is small enough to pack in your bags and it works very well in making meals as well as protein drinks.
