Question about fruit juices
Hi everyone!
Hope everyone is doing well on their weight loss and those on their way to being "losers" wishing you well and speedy recoveries.
I have a question about fruit juices (e.g. apple, grape, etc...) I am 4 weeks out but not sure if we can drink fruit juices because of the sugar content. I am continuiosly thristy and water or even crystal light have not helped with it. But I am craving a 7-up big time, and we all know the no no's on that is. Some of the sugarfree drinks are just too sweet. I have also noticed that no matter what I eat, it just has not agreed with me. Seems as tho' all I want is in liquid form.
Any suggestions?

Marie, like you I'm afraid of fruit juices full strength too. My nut. recommends flavoring water with juices. In a 20 oz. bottle I add about a half cup (I eyeball it) mixture of white grape juice and diet cranberry juice. That way my water has flavor but it isn't artificial tasting and it feels good on my pouch. Plus I know I'm getting a little extra calories to help my energy without worrying about the sugar content.
Over Christmas we had real Coke in the house for a guest and I wanted some so badly that I took a mouthful of it, planned to enjoy the flavor and spit it out. Well, I did spit it out with no trouble because it tasted awful! Hope you get over your 7-Up craving soon!

I am 2 wks out and I am able to drink Tree Top Apple juice. It is 100% Natural, no sugar or anything added. Mt Dr. said it was okie dokie to drink and it seem to do fine with my pouchie. There is also white grape juice, if you can find it all natural. Oh, and I can do a little bit of oj too. Not much but a bit. I have only eaten about 1 time a day this past few days, my pouch is just irritable to food.
Luck hun

My doc had me drinking low-cal cranberry juice and no-sugar-added apple juice in the hospital a day after my surgery!!
I'm now mixing in a generous portion of either Pineapple/Orange/Banana or Passion Fruit/Guava/Carrot in with some water about once a day for a little calorie boost.
I know throwing-up is not something to look forward to, but the only way you're going to know what you can stand is to try. Just check with your doc to see what their opinion is first.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I will be seeing my doc at the end of the month and I hoping everything goes well and I will asked about the fruit juices as well. Hope everything is going well with all of you. Its been kinda tough for me, at least the first few weeks but it is getting easier. Got 14 more pounds to go to hit the 200 lb mark, when I reach this goal I will have lost 45 lbs since my surgery on December 12th.
My goal is to be below 200 by February 1st. Wish me luck! How is it going for all of you? Take care and God bless you.

I drink some orange juice (half juice/half water) about once a day. I really have been wanting it lately....my surgeon allowed me full strength apple juice in the hospital. I haven't been craving that though. OJ doesn't seem to bother my pouch either...(maybe that is because I water it down and drink it slowly??)
All you can do is try!
