I am 3 weeks post op and I am concerned about my water intake. I know we are supposed to drink a half hour before and wait until a half hour after we eat. But how much water should we be drinking? Wont' drinking 64 oz of water/crystal lite stretch our new pouches? How do you get it all in?

Hey Miz. My Doctor has me just on the no fluid 60 min after not the 30 before. I asked him the same question about stretching the pouch too. I was told that the fluid if drank slowly will drain slowly too. They said about 2-3 sips every 10 minutes should do. They also said think of it like a drain, when you pour a pot of water down it it will back up a little to catch up but if you poured the same amount slowly it will go down with ease. Good luck Hun, I am on the same boat with my water intake too. Sabrina

Hi Mizdevah - My doctors "pouch rules" are no water 5 min. before and 30 min. after. It is so hard to wait that 30 min... eeek!! I watch the clock constantly with my water bottle in hand! My nutritionist said 64 oz. too but I havent done it - I am up to 40 oz. of water plus milk in protein shakes and hot chocolate... do you think those count???? Talk to you soon! Rebecca

Rebecca, I have been told that all liquids count. Gosh I wish I could drink 30 min after. The 60 minutes just kill me. I am gonna try the hot cocoa it may help me a bit. I just got the suisse miss mocha, no caffeine or sugar it is nice. Sabrina
