Post op 5 days/newbie
I had my lap band on 12/26/06 and for the most part i feel good. I've been up and walking since the day of my surgery. I have been taking my vitamins and trying to stay off the Lortab during the day. However, I have a lot of discomfort on the right side where my port is at. I can actually feel the port, which does not hurt when I touch it, but it hurts with movement. Did anyone feel like this? Was anyone able to sleep on their side after surgery? Oh yeah and I can't seem to shake the hiccups at times..anyone experience this? :help:

Dear Roxanne,
I just had huge hiccups... I dont know what it was... I was afraid the neighbors could hear me! I had Lap RNY 12/18 so it was a different surgery, but alot of the same rules. =) =) I started sleeping on my side a few days ago, it sure felt great.
Happy New Year,
Rebecca
Let's toast (water of course!!) to the new us in 2007!
Rebecca,
My hiccups have slowed down..thank goodness!!..they really scared me because of my band..i definately do not want any slippage due to terrible hiccups!..well i slept on my side again last night..with a heating pad though..and it actually felt a lot better..i woke up this morning feeling ok. Of course still with back pain..which i'm sure is normal, right?
Thanks and Happy New Year!

P.S...as for the toas****er of course!..lol
Roxanne,I had Lap RNY 12/21/06 so it is a different surgery also, but I have had pain on my left side where they did most of the work and I still am not able to sleep on my side. It is getting better and feel good if I sleep with a heating pad on low on my side. If the pain keeps up, you should maybe contact your doctor just to make sure everything is ok.

Thanks Maryann!..I slept with a heating pad last night..and slept a lot better..I woke up with hardly any pain where my port is at. I see my Dr. on Wednesday for a followup. I'll mention it to him. I also have this rash on my tummy that will not go away...but everything else is going well.
Thanks again and Happy New Year!

Hi Roxanne,
I had big time pain when sleeping. I had RNY on 12/8 and even posted on here because I knew something was wrong. It burned when I tried to get up.
I am now 24 days out (3 weeks and a couple o days) and feel perfectly fine. I went back to work today.
I am now able to sleep on my stomach again, for a long time I couldnt even TURN to my side without the searing, burning pain. I took my pain meds as my dr instructed right before bed and everything has worked out..
I also had the rash, bad breakouts on my stomach, back, arms, it was flaky, scaly skin but that too has gotten better.
I use noxema on my stomach and back before I shower and use lots of lotion every day. My skin has gotten so much better. I think that has to do with the anesthesia still in my system and/or the pain meds.
Good luck to you, sounds like you were able to get comfortable.
Angela
Roxanne,
I had my surgery the same day as you! I've felt pretty good too, but I have a spot that really hurts. I have been really trying to watch that I don't do too much and don't lift. I went to bed last night with pain and was having problems when I was walking yesterday. The good news...nothing today...go figure. I am thinking where I hurt the most is where that port is as well. Sleeping has been good. I prop a pillow under my stomach and lean on it. Feels good! Good luck! No hiccups here...can't help you with that one! :-D
