You don't have to share it with anyone if you don't want to. I've been selective in who I have told because I figured that there were too many unknowledgable opinions out there and it would only cause me grief. Plus, it was my understanding that the lap band works much differently then total bypass and the weight would come off much slower. I didn't want people thinking I was some failure for no losing it all "over- night." I think that the decision to tell or not to tell is very personal and should be left up to the "bandster" to decide. My husband and a close friend that I can bounce things off of are the only ones who know anything about it for me. We'll see if I change my mind later but for now...that's enough.
I've thought about this alot with myself. I've decided that the only "reason" that I need to give anyone, is a simple, "I had it done because I choose to have a good healthy life, I choose to continue to walk, and I needed this kind of push to do it, and I'm comfortable with that".
I don't see how anyone could come back with anything after that.
Good Luck,
Beth
