I had one BM in the hospital and a few since I have been home. They have all been pure liquid. Should I be alarmed by this? Will this continue as long as I am on the full liquids? I have searched through the message boards and have not seen this addressed at all.

I have had VERY, VERY loose stools. I think it is the vicondin the dr put me on. B/C the days I don't take it I am fine. What kind of pain meds do you have? If it is pure liquid, I would be concerned and call the dr. Take care and I hope all is well with you. Corinn

no pain meds. I took Tylenol w/codiene twice after coming home, but the second time I threw it up so I said no more. I really have not been in much pain. hmmmm my surgeons office is closed this week. Not sure what I should do...

Hi, Mine have been even grosser than yours because mine have had "old blood" in them. My doctor said not to worry - that we were cut up a lot and a lot of stuff will come loose and need to go out our 22 feet of colon. He kept me in the hospital an extra day and gave me a pint of blood and a blood thickener and my bllod levels got reaaly good. I had been taking ginko, lots of it, and some of it may have still been in my system. But I feel so great, have no fever or any symptoms, so he says no worries for me. I think you can relax. My doctor said if it was still happenening on Thursday to give him a call, but I think what you are feeling is quite normal. Good luck, nancy

Have your intestines been gurgling a lot? I was taking the new adult liquid tylenol and loving it but at the same time was also using whey protein. Either I was dumping from all the sugar in the tylenol (painful gurgling and explosive liquid stools) or it was from the whey protien. After I cut out the tylenol and whey protein all the gurgling stopped. Have since tried adding back the protien and I do get the gurgling and pain but not the loose stools. My doctor's nurse said that many of us are temporarily (or even permenently) lactose intolerant after RNY so I will just keep retrying the whey periodically. Gross, but we all have questions about these experiences. Molly

No gurgling going on at all and I have no gas, none. I think I am weird.

Hi Hockey Mom, I had the same thing happen to me when I first got out in Nov. I was advised to switch out one of my tums for a benefiber chewable, it helps with diarrea and the constipation. If you take the tums they could lead up to being a source of constipation. Just a little FYI from a Surgery in Nov lady. Good luck Michelle

I was told by the clinic that any and all variations on BMs are acceptable, and some days will be better than others. I have had 2 days of fairly soft solid stuff, today is liquid.... there ya have it!
