Comments I can do without.
You know some people don't know what to say out of their mouths.
Here are a few comments I can do without. lol
1. You were not that big..
Well when I was naked that was not true
When you can only shop in certain store it is never a good sign
When you have to roll over on your kneees to get out of the bathtub
Just getting up is not an option
When your coats get too small
When you can't lotion your feet, it is time for a change
2. You could have lost it on your own.
I embrace who I am.... the good, bad and fat. I guess that is why I kept getting bigger.
How many times can one person do this?
3. I know someone who died from weight loss surgery.
I know someone who died from high colesterol, car accident, heart failure, kidney failure, stroke, cancer, circordis and myloma.
Lets not forget Superman's wife who died from lung cancer and never smoked.
4. You don't weigh enough for the surgery.
Well anytime you weigh more than the former heavy weight champion of the world (Mike Tyson) it is never good.
When you weigh more than Oprah ever weighed that is never good.
Well these are just a few comments that I received this week. lol Just think they were all from people who care.
So if you don't know what to say here are a few ideas.
Encourage me to get my fluids and protein in daily.
Clap when I clap.
If you see progress say : "I am glad this tool is working for you."
"Keep up the hard work, I know it is not easy."

Boy, you look so good now. ( I have not got this one yet.)

Yep, i've heard all of those, and its just like when someone dies... people don't know what to say.. and I'm sure none of it is malicious.. When someone tells them that they are getting weight loss surgery, what are they supposed to say "oh yeah, you need it!" LOL. I understand their discomfort, however you are right, it does not make it easy to hear..
However, these are some new comments I've been getting and you will start getting..
"you better not lose any more weight. you're getting to thin"
"you are toothpick already? stop losing weight!"
"you can't weigh less than me, its not fair" (this from my best friend!..who I now weigh less than)
"you're going to juts float away, you need to gain some weight!"
"Don't lose too much!" (yeah, like I have a lot of control!!!)
yeah... people just don't know what to say.. or they are just flat out clueless!! LOL
Jessica, I'm sure you are right...they wouldn't want to appear to be rude. But what I always said to someone getting weight loss surgery was to first congratulate them on taking such a big step and express how wonderful it will be for them to start feelig better and having more energy. Guess I have a chip on my shoulder about the issue of 'looks'.
Your other comments will be fun to hear someday (hopefully not too long!) Reminds me of one of my former coworkers who had health issues and prob. only 100# to lose when she had wls...other coworkers said behind her back that she was getting too thin and looked awful. I never thought she looked awful, she just looked thinner and different. A few of the people making those comments were people I know have never had weight problems and just don't have any understanding of the many issues tied to obesity. Still, it is interesting to see how thin friends react when their fat pals lose weight. Doesn't always bring out the best in them, sadly.

Congrats on the current weight loss!
I am so glad someone finally put it out in the open! I get these rude comments all the time. They keep telling me I'm not THAT big, I can do it on my own, and surgery is the easy way out. Here is the thing, from what I observed, its REALLY hard trying to relearn how to eat and manage your body. I'm hoping to get the surgery soon, but get so frustrated with all the annoying skinny people out there looking at us as if we are lazy.
Good luck!
