8 Days ?!

It has been the longest 15 months of my life (ignore the fact that I'm only 23, okay? ), but in 8 days I'll be getting my open VBG and gall bladder removal, and finally... FINALLY... be on the losing-side! I'm so excited, I honestly can't find the words! My mother-in-law pulled me aside the other night and told me that I'm beautiful and that the surgery will just enhance that... but that more importantly, I'll be healthy and happy and full of energy, and that she can't wait until she has a daughter-in-law ready to give her some grandbabies! I couldn't agree more. This is the first time I'm doing something COMPLETELY for me - for my health, my happiness, my sanity ( ), my dreams, and it feels amazing.

We are surgery buddies I am so excited for us both and good for you for doing this. I wish I had done it at 23!!! Good luck and I can't wait for us both to be on the losing side

Dear Krystal, I want to wish you the best of luck in the coming days. I am like you. This is the first thing that I have ever done just for myself. And my mother in law sounds as supportive as mine. Isn't it great to have such wonderul family! Joanne

Thank you soooo much! My husband's family really is the most supportive, encouraging team I could ever wish for. Best of luck in all you do, Joanne!

that's awesome! congrats! It's great that your family is so supportive! My surgery is next month and even though I've gone through the six months of pre-op stuff I still haven't told my family I am having the surgery done. I know I know...bad Maira. I know what you mean though, about finally doing something for you. Feels good, doesn't it?! :-)

I wouldn't say "Bad Maira" just yet...! It's just so cool that you're doing this for yourself, to make yourself happy and healthy. In the end, YOU know what is best for you. There's a guy at my church who didn't tell his mother that he was getting his surgery (Gastric Bypass, I think****il the night before. He didn't tell any of us at church! As it turned-out, we all started noticing that he was losing weight rapidly and, after telling some people that he had surgery, everyone was SUPER supportive. Keeping it to himself (and his wife) was the best decision he could have made, since it didn't allow anyone the opportunity to talk him out of it. GOOD LUCK! - Krystal
