The honeymoon period is over and the hunger is back in earnest. Up to this point, losing weight has been effortless. I am so upset! Hunger scares me. I wi**** would just go away forever! I think I consumed too much tonight. My stomach is full and uncomfortable. I know I over did it. Can you stretch the stomach pouch with one episode of over indulging? I have my first post-op appointment on Thursday. Will my Dr. know I ate too much? I am very upset right now. Anyone have any experiences with this? Thanks for your responses. I need them right now.

Hi Nella: I am just one week ahead of you but hit what you are describing at 2 weeks out -- I was ready to climb the walls because of hunger. I called my nutritionist, who gave me some excellent advice (that straightened out that which I misinterpreted and/or overdid). She said: (1) Be sure to eat at the target times given to me (for me that is every 2 1/2 hours). (2) Since I had been having no problem keeping down liquids, she allowed me to move on to soft food for 1 meal/day. In my case I ate/eat 2/3 C skim ricotta cheese, flavored with Hershey's dark cocoa and Splenda and added whey to the concoction to get more protein. (3) She stressed drinking the minimum of 64 oz of liquid, even if I felt like I was going to float. It keeps you full and helps your body get rid of the fat it is eating. (4) She told me to keep a meticulous diary of what, when, and how much I was eating, drinking, and exercising. (5) She said to keep a 1 c measuring cup on the counter at all times to visually cue myself to remember portion control. Guess what -- within one day it worked and have not had problems since. I don't know about stretching the pouch, but I doubt (from my reading) that you will do that if you are reasonable (less than 1 c/meal), even if you mess up once in a while -- but ask the nutritionist. I am a Lapbander too so do call your nutritionist. Hang in there and let me know how you are doing -- you can do it if I can, OK? Laurie
