Hey all I'm nervous and a little sentimental in "Saying goodbye" to foods I won't be having again. I'm more excited though. I'm going to rattle off a bunch of questions....anyone, anyone...?? I'm curious about the 48 hours post-surgery before I will be given my 1st liquid. I understand my mouth will be dry. Is that it? You're just not hungry?? Does that mean you feel sick?? Also, in order to make sure I didn't lose my insurance approval, I am doing this just before Xmas. How hard is it to sit at meals with family during liquid/thicker liquid/puree stages? Is anyone out there just plain sick of protein powder? How do you cope? I've been practicing for a few weeks and am doing much better than I thought I would, but everyone says my tastes will change, so I'm worried... Did anyone else travel out of town for this? How was that? All input GREATLY appreciated! Thanks Lori Lashley

Hey Lori, I am exactly 2 weeks post-op.. I went to my 2 week appt. today. and all is perfect... I will tell you how it went for me, I had open RNY btw... I went into surgery was talking to the DR and that sneaky drug was snuck up on me the next thing I knew I was in my room, I dont remember anything about the recovery room, and I can honestly tell you I wasnt that thirsty that first day but hubby was swabbing my mouth periodically. by the second day I was getting dry mouth, but I have to say the chapstick sure helped alot they brought me this gel I could put on my lips and in my mouth and it helped...by the 3 rd day I was drinking.. AS for the Holiday with family, I was on liquid diet pre-op during Thanksgiving that was tough..Once you have surgery you are soooooo not hungry.. I still have to remind my self I have eat that is one thing the DR said to me today, I have to eat, I get into conversation while everyone is eating and I dont get anything to eat myself.. SO after surgery cant even be compared to before surgery..IT is apples and oranges. I have had abolutely NO regrets...NONE and would lay down and do it again in a sec.. good luck to you I will be thinking about you on the 15th.. AlohaJenniH

I went to the Dr today and got my staples pulled and it wasnt to bad a little uncomfy but bot painful although I have to say I am in a little discomfort now, my incision seems to be burning a little not enough to be concerned just annoying...LOL I am 2 weeks out and down from surgery 26 pounds..GO ME....plus I think it would be more like 30 if Aunt Flo didnt come to visit on Sat,,,that threw me off,,,LOL I am able to eat pretty much whatever I want now in little tiny bites and slowly, just no red meat yet and no pork either except microwave bacon..and absolutely NO bread products.. I am here always you can ask me anything if I can answer I sure will, I love chatting with people on OH, you all are so wonderful... Let me know if there is anything I can do for you.... Jenni
