So terrified, I am thinking of backing out of having surgery.
Peace. Peace. Peace. If you're a religious person you'll recognize when I say: Peace, be still. Sometimes we need to allow Christ to calm the storm within' us. Othertimes he strengthens our grip on the wheel and helps us ride out the storm.
If you're not a religious person then know that what you are experiencing is comletely normal. Positive, in fact. Your apprehension tells me that you are serious about the surgery, and are cognizant of the impacts it will make in your life. Your eyes are open. You are living an honest emotion. Now you just have to ask yourself the question I ask myself nearly every hour, as my surgery is 10 days away. "Does this fear make me run away from the event, or am I just scared?" To me it's a question of motion. I'm scared, but I'm still walkin'. What are you going to do? Regardless, you are a brilliant soul given an amazing chance at experiencing something only a small population is allowed to experience. You get to deeply, introspectively search your soul and have an honest conversation with yourself about the status of your health, well being, and future. What did you have to day? We're here for you. Some of us are even right here with you.
Hi Delana, I like you were very nervous about surgery. I had never stayed overnight in a hospital since I was 4 years old and I'm 53 now. But you know what? I had my surgery on Dec 4th and was even thinking to myself after the surgery, did I do the right thing? Well I can tell you that yes I now can say I did the right thing. You will have some discomfort after the surgery but it's not unbearable and before you know it you're back home and it's all over with. I'm 4 days post-op today and feeling better every day. Hang in threr and it will be over before you know it! Besty of luck.
Dan
