Surgery Dec 4th!!!
Hi Everyone,
I am having a lap RNY on Dec 4th, one week from today!! The only time I was nervous was the day I received my surgery date from the office, like it was "for real" then. Now I have been doing my two week clear liquid, liver shrinking diet and I am at peace. I have everything organized, all my lists of what to bring with me and a todo list that I am scratching off as we go. I feel prepared. The only thing I haven't done that I am debating about is writing those dreaded letters, something in me says it just isn't necessary. I don't know why. I am a nurse so I am used to hospitals, medical equipment etc. I used to work on a post op floor for many years. Recently moved departments but I think this gives me some ease as well. We have to stay in a hotel the week of surgery until my one week appointment. So we are going to the hotel on Sunday so I will be there preop for my surgery at 9am on Monday. I feel prepared and strangley at peace. This has been 2 years in the making. So I feel I am ready.

Good luck on your surgery next Monday.. Im sure you will be fine.. Just know in your heart that this is the best thing you can do for yourself.. I too am having surgery next week on the 5th one day after you.. Im a little scared but i believe in God and know he will heal me.. Prayers are being sent your way.. Good luck Melissa! We'll be in surgery the same day. Mine is a lap revision (but may end up being open). My surgeon doesn't require the two week diet and when I discussed it with him he said I could do it if I wanted...but I don't. He wants a two-day before liquid diet which is fine.
Good thing you are used to medical surroundings, it sure can be stressful for some people. Thank you for letting us know how much you've accomplished and that you have achieved that sense of peace. I'm still too excited to feel the peace. But like you, with mostly everything in place I don't feel the need for those letters. If my kids and husband don't know how very much I love and value them then I haven't done my job well...and i have tried.

Hi Melissa, Congratulations on your Dec 4th sugery date. I'm having my lapband done on the same day. I too, lke you, are at ease with it. I'm sure we all put a lot of thinking into having the surgery before we made the final decision, and it can scare you that it's less than a week away. But to tell you the truth I just want to get it over with. Best of luck to you.

I am so happy for you. I am having the same procedure on the sasme date. I am not nervous yet, but I am getting there. Speaking of writing those letters, I don't really think that I need to write one either, but just in case I will do it. I don't want to think nothing but positive things so that is why I feel that I have so much peace. I know about all of God's promises and I am banking on them from begining to end. My process has been a year in the half in the making and I am determined that it is going to be just fine. Not only for me, but for you too. Hang in there stay strong and continue to be encouraged.
