i am so mad!
What did it for me was finding out that my surgeon tests blood before surgery and he will not operate if any is found in my system. That was pretty sobering! It was tough but I finally just did it cold turkey. Another thing that helped was that my husband quit with me...that made it easier! Good Luck!
Kamini,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having such a hard time quitting smoking. I don't smoke, so I can't really help you. I just wanted to let you know that someone listening. Just keep telling yourself that you HAVE to do it if you want this surgery. I will keep you in my thoughts. And feel free to vent anytime.
Good Luck

Kamini - first of all you have a beautiful name! My surgery is scheduled for Dec 20 and I found out that my surgeon will not do the surgery if any nicotine is found in my system. My preop testing is Dec 6. I quit smoking on Oct 1. I used a product I bought at Walmart called Smoke Away. I am not sure how it works, but it was great!!!!! I feel so much better as a nonsmoker! I guess it depends on how badly do you really want surgery so you have a healthier life? I had to put it into perspective.....was I going to let 4 or 5" (the length of a cigarette) stand between me and my goal? NO WAY!!!!! Good luck girl. I know it is hard, I've been there. Karen
Smoke Away was a bottle of pills. It was kind of a comprehensive program. There was a cd to listen to. A pamphlet of testimonials, some small pills to help with at the time cravings. You start with 4 pills the night before you wish to quit. Then for the next 3 days you take 4 pills three times a day. Then the amount goes down from there. I was not edgy or jittery. It was really quite painless, but I was also very motivated. I also got rid of my cigarettes when I decided to quit so it would be harder for me to change my mind. I also avoided other smokers for several days. I got them at Super Walmart and I think the kit was about $40. It was located near the other stop smoking remedies. Good luck gals. Karen
My surgery is on Dec 5th and i quit smoking about a week ago.. I havent had many cravings i just quit cold turkey.. I have smoked since i was 16..
