First Post, Surgery 12-22
Hi Erin
Congratulations on getting your date! That step makes it so real and exciting. I don't know about you, but the before and after pictures sure are motivating for me as we all go through the 'hurry up and wait' scenario. My surgery is on 12/6. Originally it was going to be the same week as yours but my doctor had some schedule/vacation changes and now I'm only 5 weeks out.
Take care, and again... CONGRATULATIONS!
Sue
Thanks ladies, good luck to all of you as well. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I need to spend a little more time on this site, it seems to be very informative. Have any of you thought about your diet afterward? Any food ideas?
I know about the pureed cottage cheese, tuna, and other meats, I want to have a variety of things to choose from, any suggestions would be apprcitated....
Thank you, Erin
Wishing you lots of success on your surgery Erin. Mine is on December 12th. Two things I am suppose to do before that day. One is smoking which I am having very little success in kicking the old habit, and losing ten pounds. Seems like now that i know that I have to lose ten pounds between now and the date I am gaining. Same with the smoking too
So if anyone has any ideas how I can lose some of this let me know.
Erin, I can hardly stand for the surgery too. Seems so far yet just around the corner. It is difficult to believe that I am actually getting this done. Well wishing for you and keep us posted.

Hello yes it is around the corner, and I too have to lose 10 lbs. I quit smoking about 11 yrs ago, and never looked back. My mom has been a smoker for 40 years and I wish she would quit. You really should, you will heal faster, and feel better quicker than if you still smoke after surgery. Also you may find that you don't like the smell of it anymore post surgery. Good luck to you.
Erin
PS. I quit cold turkey, now if I could just give up the carbs!!!!
hi Marie- I just recently found this site and I am so excited to be able to talk with people who are going through the same thoughts and concerns that I have. My name is Karen and I live in Indiana in a small town about 30 miles south of Fort Wayne. My open RNY is scheduled for Dec 20. My preop testing is scheduled for Dec 6. I also was a smoker and knew that one of the tests they will do on that date is to check me for nicotine. My surgeon is adamant that there is no nicotine in your system at all. I quit the beginning of October using a product called Smoke Away. I bought it at Walmart. It was great to use and I feel so much better as a non-smoker. Keep in touch. Our surgery dates are really close and we should be going through some of the same stuff. You are in my prayers. Karen
Food Ideas!
I know that you can have things like Propel Water or Crystal Light, Fat Free Broth, Cottage Cheese, Yogurt( sugar and fat free) fish etc. You know what? I am going to make a new post and see what we all can come up with. Sort of like a grocery list for pre op WLS! Good way to get us thinking Erin
