Finally picked Surgery Date
Hi All,
I know that this board will be slow for a while but I thought I would go ahead and introduce myself. My name is Joanne, 28 years old, over 300 lbs, and I am having surgery on December 4th. I personally picked this date as I need my family's assistance. I have two little girls, one is 2 1/2 and the other 1 1/2, who will be staying with my parents till Christmas, when my husband and I will be picking them up. That way I can have some time to adjust to my new way of life.
I personally love OH and although I don't post much, I read almost every post on the general board and the California board. I can't wait to meet some of you!
Hi Joanne, I'm Janie, 29 years old, and am having rny on December 11th. I picked this date because my husband is having rny on November 6th and this will give him time to recover before he has to start taking care of me lol. I also picked this date because I am a full time student and 12/11 is the last day of the semester. I will have plenty of tim to recover before the new semester starts at the end of January.
I read mostly on the light-weights board and the tennessee board.
I'm looking forward to getting to know people who are having surgery around the same time as myself.
Janie
Janie,
That's great that both you and your husband will be having the surgery. It will be nice for you two to go through this journey together.
It will be nice when our dates get closer and we get more activity. But it's nice to have a least one other person to talk to.
What are you going to school for? How much longer before your done?
My surgery date is Dec. 10th? In Birmingham Alabama Dr. ronald Clements, do you know how long we will be in pain? What all do we eat beside broth during the first week, I see you are taking your children to their grandparents but I have two of my own 12 and 6 but they will be here with me, so do you think I need to get assistance with them? I am so excited and I just imaging myself small.
Charlotte,
Glad to have you here. I've heard that the pain is different for everyone. It also depend on whether you have lap or open.
I don't think you'll really need that much assistance, especially since your kids are older. Mine are 1 and 2 and with not being able to lift them would make it very hard for me to take care of them on my own.
The first two weeks are usually liquid. Your doctor should give you a list of things that you are allowed to have. SF jello, SF popsicles, cyrstal lite, and protein drinks are some other things you can usually have.
Welcome to the December board
Joanne
