Topic: RE: 3 month update
Great job !!! My surgery wqas Dec 9 and I have lost 64 lbs and from 55BMI to 43.3. My adult daughter had it in Kansas City a month and 2 days before me and just before 4 months she had lost 100 lbs!!! Her partner has a weight problem too, although not as severe, she wishes she could have had the surgery, but insurance would not pay, and my daughter got the money for hers from my parents. It is hard for her partner to watch her adhering to this restrictive lifestyle, but it is also hard to try to lose alot of weight on her own. We all know that all too well !!! They have an eliptical though because I bought it before my daughters surgery. They both use it several times a week. She did need to have a balloon procedure done 2 twice though, and my husband and I will have to help her pay for this.
What do you like to do for exercise? I have permanent disabilities on both knees, one foot and ankle, both shoulders and one wrist, so many things won't work for me. But I have been doing 35-40 minutes of non stop movement in the pool 3-4 times a week since 2 1/2 wks post op. I think this is helping me.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

Topic: Super wow moment..
Today I bought my wedding dress (pic on ma profile if you wanna see it) and I literally almost cried because I couldn't believe the person in the mirror was me. I don't remember the last time I weighed this much.. or looked nice in a dress for that matter. Dress has always equaled "boat-like object" in my world so I have tended to steer away from them in my days. But.. I am getting married in July and wedding dresses aren't really things you can pick-up last minute so I had to bite the bullet and go today. The dress is an 18 and it zipped up.. I almost fell over. They said they could take it in 2-3 three sizes if needed so I felt a bit safe in making the purchase final. I'm still in shock.. I'm so happy I could burst!!

Hi Susan and other December-ites:
I finally feel really good! Like others who have posted, here, I had a stricture that led to vomiting and malnutition - felt horrible! One dilation seems to have done the trick for me - had it about 6 weeks ago, and haven't had any trouble since.
I hope you are able to get to the bottom of whatever is causing the nausea. It helps so much to finally be able to eat "normal" food.
Keep us posted...

Hi Becky, this is a fun post - thanks for getting it started.
I can summarize: no to # 1-8 but that doesn't mean I won't!
#9) I was a major red wine drinker before surgery. I drank wine for the first time post-surgery at 8 weeks; was amazed at how little I could drink before it really had an effect. I now limit it to one glass of red wine twice week. It's a great treat. Haven't had any trouble with it.
#10) We eat out all the time. I have found that I can generally find something on the menu no matter where we eat. Often my husband and I share - it keeps him from eating the whole plate full of food, and it's so much cheaper!
My fear continues to be that this won't work either, just like the thousands of previous attempts. When I hit 50 lbs, though, I think I finally became a believer. That was a big milestone for me. And I shopped for new clothes this week for the first time post-surgery - found I got to shop in the regular clothes section, not women's!!!! That was a huge step.
Thanks to all of you December-ites who help to keep me going!

I know!! Now I'm addicted to exercising. I find that I get very P.O'd if I don't get to make it to the gym every day.
