I don't mind talking about anything to do with the surgery but I am a nurse and nurse's talk about weird stuff anyway. It helps to get accurate information out about the surgery and recovery.

Personal questions often require some fancy footwork. If the person asking is geniunely interested I usually tell them what they ask, within reason. If it is a curiousity inquiry (co-worker who is not close), I answer in more vague terms of "more than I would have ever dreamed of" or "about half of my goal" or if it isn't a good day "not enought to brag about yet." For the situation where the inquisiton gets too overboard (like the brother and sister-in-law) I would answwer in a goofy way that got the message across..... Good grief, can't a girl have any secrets? or If I tell you that I will have to kill you or Top Secret information, come back next time I get naked and see for yourself. I do talk about my successes because someone may be considering the same process. I have my phobias about some folks and how they respond and react to me. My father in law is one of them. (He asked my husband, "Are you sure you want to marry a fat girl because you will always have a fat wife"). I figure if I take someone out one day, I can blame it on the hormone shift and I will have all of you as character witnesses at my trial.... Vicky

Actually it sounds like a good philosophy. I didn't want to go back to the insanity of counting calories but I find that I forget what I eat otherwise. My dr. told me not to count them but to just worry about protein but now that I'm 3 mos. out I think it's time to pay attention. I see him for a follow up on Thursday.

Oh man this is not going to sound good at all. After years no make that decades of yo yo dieting I am not counting calories or doing a good job of measuring any thing. What I have done is accept the fact that I am a junkie when it comes to chocolate sugar sweets cookies etc. So I have tried to take that out of my diet. I do a potien drink at 6:30am. I put a teaspoon of decafe coffee and 1 1/2 teaspoon of cocoa powder in it. After that I never know whats on the menu excep**** ER and more water. I stopped eating in a regular dinner plate and now use saucers, teacups and teeeeennnnyyyy bowls. My doctor wanted me to eat only three times a day. I tried but my blood sugars wasn't having it. Counting the protien drink I eat from 6 to 7 times a day. I know that sounds like a lot. But I am not eating a lot. Sometimes one of those times is nothing but string cheese. So I am eating 3 meals and 3 snacks. I am still at the point a lot of times I don't want to eat. But that was a bad habit I am still breaking. I eat if nothing but some cottage cheese. I eat. Never thought I would be making me EAT. Yesterday I ate the same thing all day long. Tortillas, smoked chicken breast ( I smoked a chicken Sunday and put the breast aside for Monday) Pace Picante Salsa with fresh tomato cut up in it, avacodo, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, refried beans. I rolled that and cut it into thirds and ate it all day. Today its cool on the island 58 this morning. Thats freezing to us. So I am making Ice Box soup. Any thing in the fridge goes in the soup. There will be no corn bread. Because I don't know when to stop so I won't start. Soup has frozen turkey breast, Yes I smoked that a while back, one smoked sauage, salt pork I fried that in a separate skillet so no fat just taste, the refried beans, the Pace, tomato sauce, tomatoes, green beans, peas, carrots, chicken stock, rosemary, thyme, onion, garlic, parsley, corn. Makes a hugh pot. I guess this is really more than you wanted to know. But Yall know me once I get started. I really think a lot of my lost is because I am not eating sugar and eating real food. Before surgery I didn't care if I never had meat of veggies

Topic: Strictures - what a ride!
Last Tuesday I had to have another stricture dilated. The doctor told another doctor that he had to replace the balloon because a staple had popped it when trying to dilate. Why didn't he remove the staple then? Or explore more? Friday night, I got sick again, threw up for hours, then Saturday, kept nothing (not food or liquids) down and ended up calling my surgeon who had me go to the ER. Well, they admitted me to the hospital and that's where I had to stay on IV fluid and nausia medicine until Monday early when the same doctor did another scope. This time he said he removed a staple and a stitch that was interferring with the the scar tissue. He said he almosts promises that this will be the last time I need a scope. It frustrates me because getting sick like that just zaps a person and why didn't he just do that in the first place? It would have saved me being in the hospital and being so sick. You should have seen my eyes! They were so swollen. I'm doing better now but man or man, what a ride! Thanks for letting me vent! Diona

Wow, I can't believe how many calories everyone is taking in. 1,200 calories is what I see long term posties eating for maintenance, not for losing and not so early out. But, if you are doing as your doctor says, it is only a matter of time before it starts to come off again. Plateaus don't last forever and this is not the end of your road.

Isn't that amazing? I never considered my feet to be fat to begin with. I'm 5'10 and wore a size 11W shoe. Now I'm down to a 10!! I'm a little dismayed about the boob shrinkage too. I miss my shelf!! Chawan 298/231/190?180?
