Topic: Have you tried this??
Hello everyone. I trust that everyone's Wednesday evening is going well. Mine is great. I found out today that I have gotten the third cook job. I was very excited to hear that. It means I will have to be at work by 630am, but the plus side to that is that I get off work at 3pm. I will be home when my daughter gets off the bus. She hates going to daycare. Anyway, back to the reson for the post has anyone tried this smoothie drink. Topic: RE: Support groups
I am a firm believer in support groups. In my case, I have learned more from the support group than I ever did my surgeon. Unfortunately, it is a 2 1/2 hour drive for me to attend an hour meeting. Silly huh? It is almost like a security blanket for me to go as often as I can make myself do the drive. This group is great too, but it is different sitting in a circle talking to people that you can look in the eye. I know the statistics are there that people that attend support groups have a better success rate. That is enough to kick me into going right there.

Topic: RE: negativity from others
We had surgery the same day! I have been getting negative attitudes as well. One of the things I made my mind up about involves becoming "selfish". All of my life I did for others and I decided it is now my turn. I can't save the world, at the same time I am the only one that can save me. I take care of me first now. Bring the thoughts to your mind that work for you so you don't allow yourself to feel guilt about other people. You took this step to help yourself. Others need to make their own decisions in the same way. You can do this by being empathetic if you feel it necessary. I have learned to let this kind of thing roll off my back. Didn't you spend enough time in misery-land? Don't get sucked back by other people. It isn't worth it and you can't change anything for others. Hope this makes sense.

Topic: Support groups
Are any of you attending support groups? I have only been to two meetings. I really don't want to go. I go because my nut asks me to. Are they working for you? How often do you go? How long do you intend on going? Don't get me wrong I enjoy the company I am just not into the group. I rather talk to yall. At least I can leave when I get ready hah hah hah

Topic: RE: # of pounds lost
I feel pretty much the same way. Besides my family knowing, I decided to only let three people from my work know what type of surgery I was having. One woman I let know had RNY over a year ago and she said she wished she hadn't told everyone. People will make comments like, "Should you be eating that?", ect. No thanks. Now that I am back at work, more people know, but some still don't. People have complemented me, since I "look like (you) have lost weight". I don't feel obligated to tell them the truth. It is my personal business and I just wonder how comfortable they would feel being asked personal questions. I maybe overly sensitive about my weight, but since I have been dealing with this weight issue all my life, I am still not willing to share my journey with just anyone. Thanks! 0

Just remember, you did what was best for YOU and that's all you can do. You can't change anyone but yourself. Keep your chin up...you are doing fabulously!

Congratulations Christy! You are doing a great job! Keep up the good work. I had my WLS on Dec 27! I have lost 54 lbs since surgery and 10 more before that for a total of 64 lbs lost since this process started for me. Diana
