Hi there, I had my surgery on Dec. 19th and to date have lost 46lbs. I take all my vitamins and try my hardest with my water. I started at 269 and am now at 223. I am happy as a clam with my loss but yes I do tend to compare myself as well with those that have lost 100lbs in the first few months! But my surgeon is happy and reassures me that for my body size etc I'm right on target. It's so hard to just trust and let it go isn't it? Good job on your loss! You're doing great

Great job, Ebony!!! I have my three-month anniversary on Wednesday, and I have 4 lb. to go to reach -50 lb. by then. I actually set a goal of reaching that 250 mark by the time of my three-month checkup on Friday... Then I will have lost a total of 61 lb. since I began the journey! In the meantime, keep up the wonderful work! HUGS, Pat

Topic: RE: Has anyone started to lose their hair?
I don't seem to be losing any more hair than normal. (Thank God!) I hope I don't lose too much because my hair is VERY fine and thin... I have eaten a few salads and they taste really good. I usually use iceberg, carrots, celery, cauliflower, shredded cheese, and often a little shaved turkey or beef. I chew really well and have had no problems. Take care, Pat

Hi Meagan, I had my surgery on the 12th of Dec. So far I have lost 51lbs. I do feel good actually great. I do my vitamins and try to get in 40+grams of protein through shakes and stallons pudding. The remainder from food. I compare myself too and I know that is wrong. I started at 218 and a very tight 18. I am now down to 14's and they are getting baggy. My tops have gone from x-large to medium/large. You are not alone, I feel like I am at a stand still even though I know I am losing inches, the dang scale is not showing any loss. I have failed on so many diets, I just don't want to think to far down the road. I have set myself up for little goals of 10lbs each. This has really helped me get this far. So far my journey has been great but it's the little thoughts in the back of my head and knowing my past that scares me sometimes. You are doing great.... Take care, Jodi 218 day of surgery 168.2 can't seem to get off that number 130's my goal

I am not doing well with vitamins but I am making a steady effort to do better so that my clood work is good at my 6 month appt. .. i dont do protein shakes or bars, but i always put protein first in all of my meals. I am good about that. I started at size 20/22 and 5'5 243 lbs. i am now size 14 and 187 lbs. so total 56 lbs now. I cannot complain but I cant help but compare myself to some others and worry that I am not going to reach goal. I feel like I am losing slower than some. Sighhh It has gone fast already, I guess. But I hope the next 3 months fly by and maybe i can reach my surgeons goal of 155 by 6 months out. Does anyone else battle these thoughts and fears? Tell me i am not alone. Meagan 243(day of surgery) / 187(now) / 155 (surgeons goal) / 145 (mine)

Of course the guys are welcome! Thank you for responding. I am not a person to show anger, but itt is there. I was always fearful of being labled hot-headed, which for a woman begins with a b. I have more anger now and it surfaces quicker. I am getting a lot of extra exercise walking away from the situation until i can respond evenly. Not of all this emotional ride is related to a female hormone. No way. Great progress Scott. Keep it up! Your profile inspired me to do more. Vicky

Hey, Can the guys jump in. There have definitely been changes here also. I have the fuse of ACME stick of dynomite (from the Road Runner). The last week has been better though. I got some "happy pills" but have not started taking them. I will see how I feel this week. Take care Scott

I work second shift on a rotating schedule. That makes attending support groups tough. If I could, I would try to get to a few a month. Take care Scott

Topic: RE: 42lbs........
I know exactly how you feel. My highest weight was 416; day of surgery 393. I had my 3 month visit yesterday. I am down 44 since surgery. Very disappointing compared to the average WLS patient. It is 44 pounds that I wouldn't have lost with WLS, but when I hear the average at 3 months is 65 pounds, it is very depressing. I am sick of hearing about people dropping big numbers too. I try to focus on the positives, but some days it is very discouraging. It's like I am constantly fighting against the current all the time to get upstream. Nice to know I am not the only slow loser out there who feels this way. Huggs, Ruth
