I went off on my boss the other day. I walked away from a conference call to calm down and then blasted him upon return. He thought I had lost my ever lovin' mind. So, I apologized for the outburst...not for what I said. My OB/GYN told me that I might have to start taking estrogen once I lost 50lbs. After reading your post and thinking about how I reacted to my dimwit boss...I need to call her. Chauncine

Okay, I admit that I'm human and I want everyone to be happy for me. It's just not happening and I've learned to develop thicker skin. No, I've learned to use the same coping skills I used when people made comments about my weight. Recent good advice given to me: Just realize that it's their problem and not yours. Continue to smile and look fabulous. Happiness is the best revenge. Chauncine ~60lbs total I'm jealous of your 70lbs, also.

Topic: RE: Has anyone started to lose their hair?
This is my first post on here but I couldn't pass this one up! YES I am losing hair like crazy. At my last check up, the NP said to get a super B complex vitamin. I have only been taking it for 1 week so I can't tell you how it's worked so far. I am/have been getting 70+ protein per day and it wasn't making a difference in the hair loss. My hairstylist suggested cutting my hair (my hair was just below shoulder length) so there wasn't as much stress on the follicle, it has gotten some better since I did that. Keeping my fingers crossed that the B complex helps. Good luck with everything! Kelly

Slow losers, I share your pain. I may have uncovered my cause this week. At our recent support group meeting one of the ladies who has lost over 90lbs in 4 months shared that she is only eating 600 calories and getting all of her protein from her food. My Muscle Milk with 8oz of skim milk has 410 calories with 42g of protein. Imagine, what 2x per day was doing to my weightloss? I'm now going to look into other protein shakes and/or sources. I have since downloaded a program to my Palm from CalorieKing.com (they have a web-based program). I have dropped 6lbs this week by making sure I'm between 1000 and 1200 calories with at least 80 grams of protein I find myself constantly checking everything now for hidden calories and carbs. I am also kicking up my exercise to 6 days a week. This program suggests weighing yourself every day. Which can cause insanity. When I broke my plateau I was overjoyed...now that the water weight is coming on I'm dying. Keep encouraged and stay focused. Everyone's weightloss journey is different. I'd rather lose slow and retain skin elasticity than drop it quickly and look like a bald bag of skin. Chauncine ~60lbs (10lbs pre-op)

Meagan, Try the Finstone's Complete - they are chewable. 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening gives you great coverage. They aren't bad either! Isopure from GNC is a protein drink that has 40 grams per 20 ounces. It comes in different flavors like tastes like Koolaid. I like the Icy Orange and the Grape myself. I think the weight loss depends a lot on your beginning size, your bone structure, and your activity level. I find I do not loose as fast if I am excersizing because I am building muscle. My fear is always loosing muscle instead of fat! Diona 225.5(start of 2 day fast)/174 now/125-130 my goal/ 145 surgeon's goal. I'm 5' 6" tall and have a small long bone structure.

Topic: RE: calcium citrate in a chew
All, I tried one of the Lemon Chews this morning and it was wonderful. I don't like the taste of chocolate Viactiv. I got a tip from a visiting dietician. I told her that my program says to chew on Tums. I know that we need calcium citrate not carbonate. She suggested that I go ahead and use the citrate pills I purchased from GNC. I drop two in my pitcher of Crystal lite and they dissolve throughout the day. I find myself putting one in my bottle of Propel and having to shake it a few times to make sure it doesn't settle at the bottom. The beverage is a little cloudy but I know that I'm getting the right type of calcium. Chauncine

Hi Meagan, I had my surgery Dec 22 and am down -44lbs. I weighed 243 day of surgery and went home at 248. I am 5'2". I think that I am losing slowly but I am happy to be losing. I'm a little worried that this isn't going to work. I'm very impatient. I have to remember that they usually tell you to give it a year, but I would like to be at goal by this summer. Keep up the good work you are doing fine. Miriam 248/204/140

I think we all compare ourselves to others. I know I do... I am down 46 lb., not including the 11 I lost before surgery. I see people who have lost 60, 70, 80 lb. and 26 inches by now, and I get discouraged... I don't even seem to be losing that many inches; at least it seems that way to me. I am able to wear a lot of smaller clothes I have, but I can still wear many of my "big" clothes, too! People who started out at a size 30 can wear 18-20s??? I can't get into an 18-20!!!! *sigh* And some of these people claim they don't exercise at all!!! EEEK!!! I go 3-4 days a week for 1.25 hours of cardio and weight training each time! I am just going to chalk all this up to each of us being different. I see my surgeon on Friday, and, hopefully, he will be satisfied with my loss. I want to believe that none of us are "typical," and that we all will lose at our own pace. Do you think that is possibly true? Pat

When I WENT to the support meeting Thursday our Doctor said he wasn't putting a weight lost goal on any one. He felt that stressed you too much. I too feel that sometimes I am not keeping up with the pack. I know I am doing good. It is not the pounds that people say that they have lost that gets me down. It is the sizes!!!!!! I am saying to my self why aren't I in a 18 like every one else???? Then I have to tell myself BOOBS thats why. They have went down a ton but I am still packing a half ton. I think any lost is great. I know it seems I am in a constant stall but I keep feeling the hugh spare tire in my back and can feel how much lighter it is now. No you are not alone. We all are wondering something from day to day.
