Topic: RE: still can't take pills
I consider myself fortunate... I have been taking pills for at least a month now... and I can pretty much take anything... I drink LOTS of water with each one... helps me to get in my water... we were told at about 2 months we should be able to take pills...I would try the applesauce... I would put a little in a medicine cup, put in the pill, and add some more applesauce, and it would melt, and then I would just take it with a spoon...I was doing that.. but I was having a horrible time with tylenol... that stuff is sooooo bitter, even the liquid... so something had to give.. and I just started swallowing pills.

I was gonna say... I am pretty sure the protein is for life... they tell us 60-80 grams a day because they know we are not going to absorb all of that (they are considering the malabsorptive thing) so we need at least that much to get what our body needs.... as for food... eat till you are full... your body will let you know.. I feel like I may be able to eat too much... but I am loosing well... so I dont worry about it... sometimes I cant eat a lot... especially if it is dense protein.. that sits pretty heavy sometimes... make sure you get in your vitamins also.. and lots of water

Topic: RE: I could'nt dump:(
I havnt dumped yet either..although I think I was close once on carnation instant breakfast.. and I have had some sweets... I am always conservative.. the 3 bite rule... and this new life is all about moderation... not giving it up for life ( cept for carbonation... wont touch the stuff... that I really miss)... not sure about the potatoes... I know they are considered a sugar, because they break down to sugar... I found that out once during a glucose test for pregnancy... it made my sugar high because I had some waffle fries for lunch that day... figures huh...I think its all about finding out what we can tolerate and whatwe cant... rice makes me throw up... it did once... and I tried it again recently... and tried to wa**** our when my stomache started hurting... sat over the toilet and everything... but it washed through and the feeling went away... wont touch the stuff with a 10 ft pole...LOL

Zoe, Yes protein for life is literal we have to have the protein to live but even after hitting goal you will need to manage your protein/carb ration to maintain your weight. I would talk to my nutritionist about what is the right amount of food for you. I am at 3 months and still eat 1 1/2 -2 oz usually at a meal. I can't handle much more than that of most things and if it is real dense am lucky to get that in. Sherr

I had lap RNY on 12/16/05 and I was told that I was not to swallow any pills until at least six months out. I have a pill crusher and it works great. You can get them at any pharmacy. You put in the pill and turn the cap of the crusher and it crushes the pills. Then, I just put it on my tongue and drink some Crystal Light to wa**** down. I do that for all pills. Some pills, however, like time-released meds, are not crushable. Hope this helps.

Oh man you are about potatoes the way I am about sweets. I sometimes think about chocolate. But I am afraid to try. The stories I have read here about dumping and thinking you are going to die has kept me in my place. I am also worried if I do try I may not dump and be doomed

Sound Crazy? I can eat sweets and dont dump.. I felt constipated and thought it would help the situation by eating some sweets... It make me feel bad but I dont dump... Whats funny is I never was a sweet eater.. I probably could count the times I ate a candy bar or had Ice Cream .. I was not raised on sweets.. dont care for cookies or cake..but POTATOES.. I could eat them any way your bring um.. Fried, mashed, stewed, tots, hashed...Once I look at my grocery cart.. I had a bag of potatoes for baking , potato chips, French Fries and a box of instant potatoes... you get the point.. but you know what the first time I tried som tator tots.. I dumped big time and I dont crave potatoes anymore... Do dumping have any thing to do with what our bodies have gotten use to in the past?.. its a crzy ride but I'm lovin it down 55 pounds since surgery
