Topic: RE: 3-1/2 months out - Reflux
I started out having those kinds of issues and it does get better. Not sure it is the same as I ended up with a stricture and had two endoscopy procedures done...much better after that.
Topic: RE: What are you eating today?
b- 1/2 apple and 2 tlb. peanut butter
l- power crunch bar (I was on the go)
s- protein drink (isopure made with water)
snack - v8 6oz.
water, water, etc.
I agree that it is helpful to get ideas and see what others are doing.
Topic: 3-1/2 months out - Reflux
I had my lap RNY on 12/16/05. I have had a good bit of trouble with reflux ever since. However, I have had reflux for many years. I was just wondering if any of you have had this problem since surgery. I had an upper GI test and CT scan that showed that I have reflux but that my surgery is fine. I just hurt most of the time - the kind of pain that makes you think you need a Zantac, etc. -- like heartburn/indigestion. Sound familiar? If so, does it get better with time?
Topic: RE: Wednesday Morning Roll Call
Hi all. Thanks for asking, Dori. It is so good to read the reports, relate to the struggles, and share the joys.
How am I doing? I can't believe that I am doing this well. It is like a new world every day. The only way I can describe it is this is FUN!!!
Stats: 5'6"; Starting weight: 277; Current Weight: 215; Goal Weight: 150ish; Total Loss so far: 62 lbs; Date of Surgery 12/5/05.
I'd doing well with most foods - I have started to eat red meat as my dr. told me at my 3 mo. I was slightly anemic and that I needed to add meet. I am eating beef jerkey some - it surprises me that it digests easily. My biggest problem is I still eat too fast and don't chew enough - I forget!
I am exercising well - I either walk on the treadmill or ride my exercise bike for 45 min - about 5 days per week. Plus I lift light (5 lb) free weights to try to combat the dreaded bat wings. I have never been a good exerciser, so hope it continues. It is so nice to be able to move without every joint hurting!
Wows: Being able to fit in airplane seats. I travel a lot and there was nothing worse than trying to squeeze into one of those little seats - especially if it meant I had to sit in the middle. It was miserable. Another wow: shopping in regular clothes dept. It's a little intimidating but really fun.
I still have a lot of doubt, not believing this will really last. I could easily get back into bad habits if I let myself. I am so afraid the weight loss will stop - I think every stall means the end.
Mostly, though, I look forward to getting up in the morning! Getting dressed is not the ordeal it once was - finding something that looked halfway decent to go to work in was hell every single day. I didn't take care of myself in other ways (hair, nails, etc) because it all just seemed pointless. Now I am wearing my hair styled, taking more time with grooming, and caring about how I look. And damn girls, we are looking good!
