Yes Petty, it is so easy to fall back into old habits. It's great that you recognized what you were doing. You can't change something if you don't know you are doing it. I have the have-to-finish-everything-on-my-plate hangup. I find myself feeling full and knowing that I will throw-up if i eat any more and STILL I want to get that last peice eaten. I can't stand to throw away food. Must be leftover from all those starving kids stories from my childhood. (I was never sure how it helped them when I cleaned my plate! LOL!) Now that i realize it, I deliberately try to leave at least one bite on the plate. You can't believe how difficult that is for me. Some days, I just quickly put my plate down for the dogs...it seems ok if they eat it..as long as it doesn't get wasted. Old habits die hard and change comes slowly. PS this surgery is so great because on a bad day you only ate 12 chips. Before on a bad day it could have been the bag! LOL! Sunny

I don't know what med they give you in an IV, but you don't care at all what they do to you. I remember the doctor telling me to swallow but I have no idea what I did or how it felt. The next thing you know you are in the recovery area trying to wake up. As for gas pains, I had none. In fact, my daughter took me to the mall because I desperately needed new clothes. Isn't that nice? I felt a little woozy for a little while but I ate a little and drank my Crystal Light during the day and was fine. They did suggest, however, that I go home and take a long nap. But, I had the day off and wanted to take advantage of not having to go to the mall on a Saturday. I live in a New Orleans suburb (Katrina area) and the traffic is out of control these days. Anyway, keep us posted and don't worry about it. This is the second scope I've had and you feel nothing -- not even aware. Good luck.

Last night before bed I always think about what all I ate that day. I said I had about 12 potato chips all during the day. I don't even care that much about chips. So why had I eaten so many? Not only eaten too many, I had been snacking or grazing on them! WHY? I haven't done this before. Well this morning I saw why. My first trip into the kitchen and there was the canister of chips. My grandson had put them on a chair and two steps in to the kitchen instead of reaching for water I reached for the chips. I reached for the chips EVERY TIME I went into the kitchen! I moved the chips got my protein drink. Oh it is so easy to get caught up. I just hope now I pay more attention to brainless grazing!

Topic: RE: HELP!!!!!! I'm losing my hair
I have been using B&B maxium strength Super Gro. My hair comes out every time I have surgery. I have been using this for years. I don't know if it'll work this time or not. I did loose hair after this surgery but I don't know if it was the WLS or just my regular fall out. I did just go get a GOOD hair cut not a trim a hair cut. That always helps it grow back in faster and thicker getting rid of all the bad ends. I just don't look at the floor and tell her to cut. So it is cool for the summer and maybe it will be thick again by fall

You know all YALL giving me the big head. Thanks..... I live less than 5 minutes from UTMB so they are used to seeing me in there. I am trying to wait until the 11th but who knows. I keep them laughing in there so I don't think they'll put me out. My scale says I weigh less than what theirs say. Thats why I don't trust it and I flat out refuse to buy a new one. I'm slave enough to this one

Topic: RE: Survey- Start Wt. Current Wt.
My surgery date 12/14/05 Pre-op weight - 284 current weight - 220 5'4" total loss so far 64. I have gone from a 24W to a 16W. This is awesome. People I haven't seen in awhile don't recognize me. Does anyone have problems with immediate family members (like mom, sisters, aunts) not acknowledging your weight loss? It gets frustrating. I know I did this for myself but it still feels good to get compliments.

Linda I imagine you are relieved. Were they able to give you something to control the symtoms while they are working to heal the ulcer? My scope is scheduled for this coming friday. I'm glad to hear it's a piece of cake because I'm pretty nervous about it. I can't stand the thought of something being put down my throat. I hope I'm completely asleep or they're goin' have trouble holding this ole' girl down. The Doc did give me a perscription for Reglan and that's helping a little bit with the reflux. So far anyway. I'll be glad to know whats going on though, I suspect I've got an ulcer too. I guess I'll know pretty soon, huh? One more thing, I scheduled Saturday off and I have Sunday off. Were the any after-effects from the scope? I've heard some people say there is some pretty bad gas pain afterward.

Petty I bet the Surgeon's office wouldn't mind if you popped in for an unofficial weigh-in. The worst they could say is no. I'd be in my Dr's office every little bit if it wasn't an hour away. LOL. I found out my home scale was weighing alittle heavy so it was a wonderful suprise when I got weighed at the office. I was gritting my teeth and saying if says 80 I'll be satisfied so I was jumping for joy when it said 90.5. BTW, you are lookin' SO good!

Topic: RE: HELP!!!!!! I'm losing my hair
My surgery was on 12/16 and I've been losing hair for at least two months now. I don't lose a whole lot, but my hair is getting a good bit thinner. I was one who never lost hair before -- there was never hair in the shower or sink, etc., so I'm really noticing it. But, I hear there's really nothing we can do that works. If I'm wrong about that, please let me know. I just try to get in the protein, etc. I still get most of my protein in from shakes - can't get enough from eating yet, or so it seems.
