Topic: RE: Ideas for mixing protein powder...
I have a collection of all different brands of nasty protein powder. I just kept trying and buying...the only one I can choke down is Isopure Zero Carb. It isn't great, but it goes down. I tried the grape liquid $3.50 per bottle one and couldn't handle that even mixing it with rasberry crystal light. That should tell you the most important thing. We are all so different, that what works for one does not necessarily mean it will work for you. I tried ANY whey because it was supposed to be unflavored...still nasty. What has worked for me is mixing the isopure chocolate into some Lite Cool Whip. It changes the texture and takes work to mix it in, but the taste is masked. I have also put it into a banana bread recipe and that worked. Bottom line is we just have to get it in whatever way we can. Luck.

It must be something in the sout east Texas water. I love sugar. I haven't tried it either. Like you if I find out I don't dump on sugar it is over over OOOOOVVVVVEEEERRRRR A lady at the clinic today told me she can eat any and every thing and she is still loosing big time. Sure hope it stays that way for her. I think we forget we have a honey moon than you have to work. So I am trying to work now so it won't be so hard later

I have just discovered the chicken, bacon, ranch wraps at Subway. I can only eat half of one, but with a little lettuce, tomatoes, and black olives, they go down nicely and are great for the protein. Judy

Good job everyone! My surgery was 12/20 Start weight was 255, size 24 Current weight 189, size 18 or XL. Loss of 66#, don't really have a goal except my daughter has a medium sized outfit that I really like and would love to wear. Eating a variety of foods, no real trouble, just have to eat slow and chew everything really well.

I had my surgery and started at 479 and am down to 382 as of March 31 on my doctors scale. So a loss of 97lbs. But the scale at the local gas station said 370 yesterday, so that would be 109 lbs gone. Got at least another 200 lbs to go.

One of my co-workers gave me this recipe for a protein shake (she's also 3 yrs post wls) and by far it's the only one I can tolerate that doesn't taste like vomit! Total, this has 31gm of protein. I have one every morning and at night before bed. Yummy! 1 scoop Designer Whey Natural Protein powder 3 packets Sweet n Low 1 cup Skim Milk 4 ice cubes 1 packet Carnation Instant Sugar Free Chocolate powder Mix in a blender and enjoy! Chrissy

I had my surgery 16 1/2 weeks ago, 12/19/05. I started at 5'4" and 259. I am now 196.5. That's a loss of 62.5!!!! I have 67.5 left to reach my goal weight of 130. I can't believe how well this is going. The only problems I am having are that I believe I am starting to have gallbladder issues (I'm going to the doctor for that tomorrow) and the other problem is mental! We have FREQUENT dinners at work that include a meal and an abundance of desserts. The desserts are the only thing that bother me. I hope it gets easier. I truly mourn the sugar, but sugar has not passed these lips since before surgery. If I try it and don't dump, it's over. I was a chronic candy-eater before surgery and I cannot go back to that habit. I can't control myself. I walk 5 days a week for 45 minutes. The distance is about 2.5 miles. I am a member of curves, but haven't been for weeks. I need to add that back into my routine. Overall, I am super pleased with the results!

I do lots of salads and eat the chicken first and only a little lettuce. It make me quesey, too. My favorite places are those that serve fish. Grilled, blackened, whatever. At mexican food places I usually do tortilla soup or fajita salad. I eat out a lot too and I feel like I waste so much money! I do bring home the leftovers, but sometimes they are more dry and I can't tolerate them. Thanks for the taco al carbon suggestion. That's a great idea and easy on the wallet. Have a great day.
