Topic: RE: Calling all African American Pre and Post ops...
I am at 4 months today and have lost 70 pounds. My face showed it the most at first and I would look in the mirror and not recognise myself. Now I am kind of getting used to it.
Things are starting to sag and the bat wings are showing up but I figured that I will get used to that eventually. I wasn't intending to ever have a tummy tuck but now I am reconsidering. It is bad enough having to pull my boobs up into a bra without having to lift up my belly, too. You just have to keep a sense of humor and remember how much fun you are having!! I have been working in the garden digging and having a ball - last year I had to rest every ten minutes and didn't get much done.
The only thing that bugs me is that I am getting wrinkles around my eyes and mouth - they weren't there before. It isn't fair - my husband lost 120 pounds and he looks much younger - I just sag and get wrinkles....

Great Job! I 'll bet you're feeling alot better physically, too, huh? I know alot of my co-morbidities have all but disappeared. Doesn't it feel wonderful?

Congrats Paula on making it to onederland!! I'm like you, I don't post much but I definitely agree that there is a wealth of knowledge here on the boards. Keep up the good work...you don't have much further now!!

OK. In theory this is my secret recipe...but we're all friends...right?
Marx Sunrise/Sunset Wine Coolers
Ingredients...
1 Orange
1 Lemon
1 Lime
1 Quart/Half Gallon of Pinapple/Orange Juice
1 2-Liter Diet 7-up
Whatever blush or white wine you like...for coolers I use boxed Vella Zin
Ice
1 1-Gallon Jug - I use one that has a strainer top
Instructions...
Get a cutting board and a sharp knife
Cut all the fruit however you like...not too small - I always cut the ends off everything, the orange in half and then cut that in slices (half circles) and the lemons and limes in circles.
Dump the fruit in the 1-gallon Jug (Don't Squeeze)
Put some ice in the jug (should be about 1/4 full total with fruit and ice)
Put 1/2 of the 2 litre Diet 7-up in (I just hold the bottle horizontal until it is half in...eyeballing is OK here)
Put a BIG splash of the pinapple/orange juice in
Add your choice of wine to complete the gallon
Stir with a big old spoon
Put the lid on and pour into frosted or ice filled glasses
If you use Zin, should be the color of the sunrise/sunset and a little cloudy
Will taste fruity and light...GREAT for hot Texas afternoons
Never lost a party with this recipe...
If you are making a new batch same day...leave the fruit and work on top of it...nextday or later...new fruit, etc.
Enjoy my friends...my advice try alcohol at home in small amounts until you know what your pouch will do.

Hello to Everyone,
Today is a pretty exciting day for me on my weightloss journey. Today I officially weigh 199 lbs. In some ways I can't believe it because it seems like it has happened so fast and yet at times it seems like it has taken quite awhile. I also wanted to tell every one of you how important your posts are to me. I don't post often but I am on here reading everyday. It has helped me so much, both in becoming knowledgeable and prepared prior to surgery but also in keeping me supported post op. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

The day before yesterday I was wanting some macaroni salad soooo bad so I made a big ole' batch. The bad news is I ate a bowl of way more than I should have had and threw up like 3 times. The good news is I ain't gonna want macaroni salad again for a loooooooooooong time! LOL.

I just stay away from mirrors (which is the same as before) and when people tell me I look thinner, I say thanks, but don't encourage it. For me, a number (like over 100 lbs) doesn't really translate into the way I feel about how heavy I look. I KNOW I have lost and am losing weight, but until I get much furhter along, I don't want everyone to focus on it. Know what I mean?
