Topic: New to Forum
Hey guys, I haven't posted in here before today, and I just wanted to introduce myself. I had my Laproscopic RNY - proximal on Dec 12 of 2005. I am down 83 pounds so far. I feel great. The weight is coming off slower now than I would like, but I am sure it is normal. I would like to get down to 165, although my surgeon says his goal for me is to reach 200. I am pretty tall and big boned, so I think even 200 would look good on me. I do need to update my photos on profile. I will have to do that soon. Anyway, nice to meet all of you! And I look forward to getting a lot of great information here. Thanks! LaRae

...I had to laugh at this because I have been taking so many more myself for the same reason!! lol...it's great isn't it?? By the way you're looking fab!! I just browsed your profile. I really need to get some pictures of my "new" self on mine. I am scared to take them though because I still feel really big...it's my mind I guess...

Topic: How much can you eat?
I have my surgery December 12, 2005. I usually eat about 3/4 of a cup to a cup. I am worried this might be too much. Sometimes I can only eat 1/2 cup, but most of the time I can eat a cup - depending on what it is...I can't do that with meat or anything, but I can eat 1/2 cup meat and 1/2 cup veggies. Am I supposed to be able to eat a whole cup? I am just curious. I thought it might be too much, so I cut back, but when I only eat a set amount and don't get the full feeling I tend to be hungry soon after. Just curious if this happens to anyone else? Thanks!

Topic: RE: Losing my hair!!
I have been lucky and not lost too much. I am starting to notice more in my hairbrush though. I have thin hair so I am nervous about this. But so far so good. My nutritionist told me hair loss usually peaks between 4 and 6 months. Good luck! :D

Topic: favorite recipes?
ok, i'm 4 months out now. (surgery 12/20/05) and was wondering what your favorite recipe/and or meal was.. i'm finding that i'm eating a lot of th same things.. i have a lentil soup that i love 1 cup of chopped celery 1 cup of chopped onions 1 cup of chopped carrots saute in olive oil and a little butter then take 1 1/2 cups of lentils and simmer, covered with about 2 cups of chicken broth. keep an eye on this, because you will have to add more broth. simmer about an hour, then combine with veggies Then add: 1 cup of canned tomatoes (i use glen muir) 1 T red wine 1 T red wine vinegar 1/2 T brown sugar (i use brown sugar twin) Simmer another 1/2 hour.. Serve with fresh parmesean on top!

Topic: RE: I bought my first belt ever today!!
Good for you April. I still just don't like belts though I need one as my new jeans are already starting to get baggy! I have bought most of my clothes at St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store since I have been running through the sizes. I was so elated the other day because I needed an outfit for a concert (had to be all black) and went in and found one no problem. Top and skirt for $4.00. Not too bad! I also just cleaned out all my bigger clothes. I sacked them up for my neice to go through since she can't afford alot. She's not real big but she is big boned and tall and likes things loose so loves my hand-me-downs! I know she puts them to good use so that makes me feel better. Try some progesterone cream for the hormone fluctuations. It helps balance the estrodial and testosterone. You can get it at Walmart too! Diona

Yaaaayyy for the new belt. I have bought clothes that had a belt on it and always hung it on a hanger. No way was I going to wrap anything around where I didn't have a waist See what I meant about the Cams at Wally World. I go more often now just so I can see my self. I have to be careful don't want to hit some one with the basket while I am being so VAIN

Well, I am going to join this crowd...I too am losing my hair. Not a lot just a few strands but enough for me to notice. Thank goodness, my hair is very thick. I am doing great with my protein and have had several surgeries in the past so I don't think it has to do with the anesthesia. I think it is just part of the process. I take my vitamins too. Yes, it will come back, just not sure when or how long it will last. Hang in there. Jodi

Lol I feel the same way my hair is everywhere all over the house! Its nasty and I'm also losing hair like crazy i've lost about a third of my hair as well. The good thing is I went to my stylist yesterday and she says that she sees a lot of tiny new hairs. I just hope this stops soon before I go bald!

Topic: I bought my first belt ever today!!
UMMM..I have never owed a belt in my whole adult life.. ever ever!! And now.. because of my ever so lovely "fluxing hormones".. this all just makes me want to cry.. but I am holding it together.. and besides it's a really cute belt.. hehe Go Wal-Mart!! Petty Kash is so right.. the security cameras there are a wonderul trip for your psyche!! In the last several weeks I have had to pack up some of my favorite clothes for the consignment shop. In my first go around with the whole 'clothing purge' it was real easy to get rid of all that big shtuff. But lately.. I am having to get rid of what I thought were my ""skinny clothes"".. the ones I couldn't wait to fit into again. It's been hard on me.. 'I adore these clothes. I should also confess that some of the clothes still have tags on them because I had them put away as "dream outfits".. and then.. I kinda blew right through the sizes thus never getting around to wearing them.. I know.. it's soo bad!!! Don't tell my fiancé.. hehe So now I am wondering.. why is this so hard? I think at this stage of the process you find yourself thinking, "what if I gain it back.. I won't have any cute clothes." Arghh.. what a dumb security blanket!! I think it is because I feel fantastic now. Of course I want to loose all of my excess weight.. but if I did end up 'right here'.. I would still be happy with myself.. anyhoo.. Wal-mart has really cute clothes.. I love how 'girly' the fashions are these days!! I think updating the wardrobe with inexpensive finds is really good for one's esteem during this whole process.. but then I get sad all over again because I know that I am just going to have to get rid of these cute new clothes when I loose more weight.. I can't win!!! hehe Yeah.. I'm having one those days!! But I do have one new lovely belt!! April 254/191/140esh?
