Topic: 4 Months out today
Hey family, I was just sitting at home checking my email and it dawned on me that today I am 4 months out. Wow lets see, so many things have changed for me. First, I began my journey in October of 2005, at that time my weight was 386lbs. I had my surgery done on December 27th, 2005. At that time my weight was 356lbs. Now, only four months out I am down to 263lbs. I never thought i would actually have my surgery and I surely never thought I would be down this much in only a short time. Second, my body looks so different now. I can look down and actually see my feet. I can get into my bed and not be scared I am going to break it. I can walk up staris and not be so out of breath. I can sit with my legs crossed. I am healthy. Third, I am actually more involved in my daughters physical activities. This past Saturday was her first baseball game of the season. Normally I would have sat on the sidelines and watched the game. (hoping the game would be over soon) Instead I was in charge of making sure the children stayed in order and payed attention to what was going on. I felt so proud of myself. Finally, I know that I am a healthier and more active person. I really think that I made the best choice. I have been throught alot and I want to thank you, my extended family members for all of your help. HUGGGS to you all, Melissa

Don't say ONLY....when have any of us in this group have done so well for so long. You have to remember I lost some of this before the surgery and had started to slowly gain it back. I hope I never ever see a gain again. If you count from my surgery weight 279 I have ONLY lost 65lbs. One pound more than you. I won't be saying only again.

Petty, You have done incredibly well! I have only lost 63 lb., but I will be in the "obese" BMI range once I am sure that the last couple of pounds will stay off... So that is a good goal too. Keep up the good work! HUGS, Pat

I have always worn my hair pretty short but I'm still losing hair. I hate the thought of getting bald spots, but I guess there's nothing we can do about it at this point. It seems like I'm going to get some real sparse spots -- it just feels so different. Seems like I've been losing it for a long time now (surgery 12/16/05 andI know I've been losing hair for at least two months now). I may have to purchase a wig too.

I cut mine!!!!! I'm still loosing it but the cut did help take away the stringyness (is that a word) to it. I have worn my hair long and short. So it didn't bother me to cut it. Now if it didn't bother me to see it every where but on my head I would be OK. Still have all of my wigs so I am ready. And yes I have blonde wigs too. You know if I wear a burgundy one I have no problem being a blonde

Hey I understand. I'm debating on cutting mine off too. I'm so sick of seeing hair everywhere around the house (I'm losing hair really badly). I have to literally clean the drain after every shower or it will stop up for hubby's shower. UGH! Best Wishes! Carol G.
