Thanks so much for your comments, I was afraid that the Depo caused my weight gain, I hope that there won't be anymore, since there isn't much I can do about it for 3 months. I would love to go back on the birth control pill, but my surgeon said I shouldn't take them because of the malabsorbtion. Anyway it has been great being able to share with all of you.
thanks again,
Lynn

Good Morning Toni
I had surgery on 12/16/05, Boy is it easy to start slipping backward.. I'm still loosing but I sure can see the difference when I load up on the carbs. I don't really gain but my loss either stops or slows to a small crawl.. I have really good days and really really bad days. I still don't have the slow eating thing figured out.. I get 15 min for lunch and have to really get something down because it will be many hours later when I finally get to go home and even then its hurry up and take this kid there an that kid to the other place then dinner for everyone, not to mention my ill father in law who lives with us who I have become a mother to (still trying to figure that one out). there have been days when Not only do I not get to eat anything exceot my morning protein shake but I don't get time to drink either. So it would be nice to have someone to help out with asking the simple questions.. you know like, Have you ate today? have you taken time to make sure you are drinking? are yo taking care of you? So if ya want to Im here.. and Im willing...

Everyone seems to be doing great!
Here are my answers:
1. Pre-op weight/Current weight/Goal weight?? 338/245/175
2. What types of exercise? How often? Walk Away The Pound Tapes, Denise Austin videos, etc. I try to do them at least 3x a week. But lately its been once a week.
3. Favorite food? still shrimp, crab legs and chili
4. Any problems, concerns, issues? The vomiting has gotten better. Still do it on an occasion if I don't chew well or eat too fast.
5. Any advice you have to offer? I agree with most when they say follow your surgeons guidelines. Don't worry about dieting...just take it step by step, moment by moment.

Hi JaNae,
Time is going by too fast. The 6 month mark is coming too quick for me.
1. Pre-op 327.5/Current 249.0/ Goal 185.0 maybe 170 I'm not sure yet
2. Exercise- What is that ?
I walk more now. Somtimes I walk 2 to 3 miles, twice a week. every now and again I will do a workout video. I hate exercise that feels like exercise. I want to do something fun that does not hurt. I am BAD!
3.Favorite Foods- Tuna with Ritz crackers, Eggs, Taco dip, Catfish, Advocado, Broccoli, Spinach and Green Beans.
4.Problems- I just found out that I might be Hypogycemlic (sp). My body is producing too much insulin after eating a mostly protein based meal. I am being monitored for it now. The doctor said that this will probably be short term. My body needs a chance to adjust. Issues- My head still does not see the weight loss. When I see a smaller me I turn away from the mirror. I just can not believe that the person looking at me, is ME. This is weird. I love going into the stores to find out that I am a smaller size though. I just brought a pair of jeans in a size 18. That was a WOW. Just 5 months ago I was in a tight 26.
5. Advise- Do not live your life like you are on a diet. Diets do not work. We have been given a special tool to help us live like normal weight people. Eat your fruits, veggies and proteins. Have some of the things that are your weakness every blue moon. I will not try sugar until I am at least one year out because it was my down fall.I will not give it up for the rest of my life.
Go to your support group meetings. We need people just like us to cope with people who think we took the easy way out or who think that we sold out to the majority. I have people tell me that there is nothing wrong with being obese and want to know why I altered my body to fit into the majority. I had this surgery because I wanted to live.
Take you vitamins and iron. Go to see your doctor when you do not feel well. It may be more than you think, if not at least you know that you are okay.
Keep going forward on your journey everyone.

1. Pre-op weight/Current weight/Goal weight?? 240/183/140?
2. What types of exercise? How often? Just started at the gym this week. I was walking some before.
3. Favorite food? Crackers! Tuna, chili, shrimp
4. Any problems, concerns, issues? No, weight loss has slowed in this last month to one or two pounds.....so the exercise is becoming more dedicated.
5. Any advice you have to offer? TALK to people. It keeps it all in front of you instead of in your dark mind!
It took a long time, but I finally have a face with my posts. This picture is me at four months.

Lynn,
I also think that maybe the shot has caused you to gain the extra couple of pounds. Right after I had my daugther (eight years ago) I got on the shot. I was not able to get rid of any of any of the weight I had gained during pregnancy. However, I continued to use the shot, and I have taken sice surgery. I have been one of the lucky ones that did not have a period at all with the shot, which is the only reason why I get it. You may want to speak to your doctor about the heavy flow, see if there is anything else you can take.

Lynn,
It's the Depo shot. My friends all had excessively heavy periods for weeks and gained lots of weight. Talk to your GYN about another method.
Good Luck,

Toni,
I've fallen into grazing out of stress. I've seen my weightloss slow dramatically. I went to support group meeting tonight and decided to get back on OH with my WLS buddies. Like the others have said, we have come to far to slip back into old habits.
I'm here to talk to if you need help...because I can use all the support I can get.

5 months today, life is so wonderful. I am doing things I never thought that I would but will save all of that for another post
1. 279/209/140
2. Just started at the gym, have been walking and bicycle riding some. I actually ran on the treadmill yesterday (not for long but did run) never have done that before.
3. Sugar free jello with sugar free cool whip and a coupl of pecans all mixed together, guess that just counts as dessert, food would have to be buffalo chicken breast from walmart deli - shaved and put on a salad.
4. Pouch still hurts when eating dense foods.
5. I just wish that I had started excercising(sp?) sooner.

Yolanda,
Keep in touch with us and let us know how you are doing. I was told by my GYN last fall that I might have some hormonal issues after the weightloss, also.
