Today it's six months since my surgery. Seems like it flew by but my 6 mo diet sure didn't. I'm down 80 lbs and feel like a different person. I'm living life and not just existing. What a gift surgery has been to me, Even shopping is fun. I'm a luker and I guess I need to learn to share.

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You and your daughter deserve applause! You've done great- keep up the good work!
Topic: RE: 6 months - and need help with food
Late post here also - but here you go!
B: 4 oz. Unjury Protein shake
L: small can tuna and one egg white with lite mayo
S: greek yogurt/flax or a bit of popcorn (shhhh!)
D: baked/grilled fish or chicken - about 3 - 3.5 oz. and a few greens
S: Yogurt or a little fruit
I stay between 700 and 1000 calories on most days. Sometimes a bit less- and on rare occasions a little more. Protein intake is 50-60 gr per day. There was a time when I was consistently eating about 1200 cals a day and for me that was too much. I cut it back which sucked for about a day then I fell right into the routine. That helped me to start losing more consistently. I also faithfully journal my food intake on a spreadsheet.
Hope it helps!

Congratulations Melissa, you have done so well in the past 6 months. Can you believe it? We had our surgeries on the same day. I have lost 80 lbs and feel like a totally different person in many ways. I saw that you only have 59 pounds to go and thought I am jealous, and then wondered why? I actually only have 60 pounds to surgeons goal. I guess I still think there is much more of me there. Any way I just wanted to say way to go and well done.
Happy 6 month anniversery to all of the December babes
God Bless,
Sherr

Hey guys I was sitting in my car today at work and it dawned on me that today makes six months since my rebirth.
So many things have happened to me during the past six months.... I have learned to eat to live and not live to eat. I have learned there are more important things to do in life other than sit at home and eat. I have learned that I am of value....
My highest weight was 386lbs. That was in October of 2005. My surgery date weight was 354lbs. My current weight is 239lbs. I have lost 114lbs in the past six months.
I am so thankful that I was give the chance to have this surgery.
I only have 59lbs to go to reach goal weight.
Please keep your fingers crossed for me.
Melissa

Focus on how much you would probably weigh now if you did not have the surgery!!! Go back to basics, writing intake into a journal, avoid foods which you know are poor nutrition-wise, eat only 3-4 oz, take your vitamins and protein drinks and water and exercise at least 3 times a week... Walking or even water exercising which is what I do because it is easier on the joints. Many times when the scales stall, we are still shrinking !!! You are doing fine.

GREAT JOB! do not beat yourself up for not doing it sooner, maybe you needed to get to the place you are now to be able to fully comply with all the changes this life style requires!!! I too just hit the 100 loss today, and am greatful to God, and for good insurance, even though It cost nearly $1000 per month to keep it!
